I checked in Monday 1/9/2023 & checked out 1/10/2023 - I much appreciated shelter during flash flooding that stranded me in SLO unable to drive to my home in Los Osos. I work in Special Ed at a nearby school. It was FANTASTIC that Vagabond did not increase prices for those of us locals or tourists who were stranded by the severe flooding, when you could have attempted price gouging but did not. ❤️ THANK YOU for that! I'd like to compliment Sharon the Manager manning the front desk so capably, by herself as Vagabond & most local hotels quickly grew to full occupancy, dealt w pool about to over flow, handled in person check ins & on phone inquiries and reservations - all with grace & efficiency, BRAVO SHARON & the young long dark haired woman who joined Sharon at the desk later and helped me w instructions on how to use the confusing thermostat on AC/ Wall heater combo, get a TV remote that was missing in room, & the WIFI Code. My grandparents used to stay at Vagabond when they came to visit me at Cal Poly back in 1970's/ 1980's! So I chose you for price, location, & convenience of being close to restaurants, Ralph's & stores like BB& Beyond, & Kohls for missing supplies like cosmetics, PJ's, & healthy edibles. I enjoyed my omelet at DENNYS & that it was so nearby in the pouring rain. MY ONLY SUGGESTIONS ARE: 1) MOST IMPORTANTLY - PLEASE provide curtains or way to KEEP the BRIGHT EXTERIOR LIGHTS OUT during sleeping hours. The stylish shutters do not keep out bright lights at night & it kept me from getting a good night's sleep when I was exhausted & should have slept very well; 2) THE DEADBOLT DOES NOT WORK IN THE 1ST FLOOR ROOM ADJACENT TO THE OFFICE CK-IN DESK & has been that way for a while as the deadbolt was 1/4" above the hole for it in the door jam, 3) I missed having clothes hangers instead of only 4 hooks on the wall. 4) Keurig maker or better coffee please, with larger cups/mugs. 5) BETTER QUALITY & SMOOTHER pillow cases needed! The sheets were OK & bed VERY COMFORABLE but pillowcases were scratchy/rough on my face. 5) Route gushing rain water through a longer downspout reaching the ground (Not thru a short nub of a spout that shoots across walkway & on park. I liked your pretty flooring w no carpet, and soap/lotion/shampoo dispensers & loved having a hairdryer when staying overnight in an emergency w no supplies except what I purchased at stores across the street in Madonna Plaza. Thank you for the many good/appreciated aspects of my one night stay and hope you make some of my recommended improvements! Again kudos or $ bonus/raise in pay to talented acting Manager Sharon! I RECOMMEND staying at SLO's VAGABOND HOTEL if you fix the bright exterior lights shining into the room thru the shutters & use better pillow cases - as it's the BEST VALUE in SLO & SUPER CONVENIENT LOCATION!!! Sincerely, N...
Read moreI stayed at the Vagabond Inn off of Madonna Road. This establishment is not too big so the parking wasn't bad. I never had a problem finding parking. I stayed in a room with two full size beds. Upon entering the room I noticed that there was a distinct smell. It wasn't a clean smell. That number one was well made. Sheets and covers were pulled tight and the corners were tucked in. Bed number to look like somebody had slept in it. The covers on one side was slightly off and it was not tucked in on either end. The carpet stains throughout the room. The vanity and sink area were not too bad. However, the sink was missing the stopper. The shower and bathroom was awful. Although the shower looked clean, there were dead gnats all over the wall and ceiling. Paint was chipping off the walls and the door was damaged. My first impression is that the room just felt so unclean. Stains in the carpet once again, stains on the two chairs, the one table was unsturdy or uneven. There was a mini refrigerator and microwave in the room which were clean. There was a small flat screen TV that was working well. There were no alarm clocks and a portable heater / AC that works fine. Our check out time was supposed to be at 11 a.m. We ask the desk clerk if we could have a later checkout time since we were apart of an event in the area. We were running a marathon. She gave us a later checkout time of 11:30. When we arrived back at the hotel room it was 11:20 a.m. Our room keys were no longer operational. We went down to the office to get another key and she replied to us it's 11:26. We had to show her with our phone that it was only 11:20 am. She gave us a new key so that we could enter the room. Would I stay there again,...
Read moreIf you found my review helpful, please like it 👍🏼. We had the pleasure of staying three nights at the Vagabond Inn in San Luis Obispo, California. Despite the mixed reviews online and on Airbnb, we had a great stay and would recommend Vagabond Inn to our friends and family. First, let's start with the convenient location. The hotel is off the 101 Freeway and next door to Denny's and IHOP where you can easily redeem food at a discount. As a Tesla driver, the hotel is conveniently located next door to the Tesla Supercharger at Madonna Inn offering 150kW and 250kW charging. The hotel is also across the street from Ralph's Supermarket, Starbucks, and various other stores giving quick access to purchasing necessities. Plus, there are a lot of parking spaces that are well lit ensuring our safety in and out of our car. Second, the room is overall clean and relaxing. We appreciate the wood floors, comfortable bed, and flat screen television. In the bathroom, there are dispensers for shampoo, soap, and lotion alongside a coffee maker using one-time use coffee pods. Please note that if you live downstairs, you may have neighbors above you making it difficult for those sensitive to noise. Lastly, I felt safe during the red tier of COVID restrictions in San Luis Obispo County. Although the rooms are cleaned everyday, the staff are wearing masks and are easily accessible for any needs you might have. The heated pool is also open to guests with social distancing protocols. Plus, they have a lot of outdoor security cameras ensuring the safety of their guests and their staff. All in all, I would recommend Vagabond Inn to our friends and family; thank you to their staff for a...
