State at this hotel for a convention at the end of March. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Well the property is clearly older, Hilton is doing an excellent job in upgrading and refurbishing the entire facility.||My room was very nice and I got an upgrade to an executive suite. Moderate living room area in front with a desk TV and sofa bed. There’s a short hallway with the bathroom on one side and a sink with coffee maker and refrigerator on the other. Very convenient.||The bedroom was very nice with a large armoire to hang clothes, a large dresser and make up table. My room had a king size bed with bedside tables. Bed was very comfortable as were the pillow and big clothes. Bedroom also has a small balcony but there was no outdoor furniture as it’s a little narrow to accommodate a chair and table.||Bathroom was nice with a nice tiled walk-in shower. One note, in order to get hot water in the shower, you have to turn the handle almost 360°. That wasn’t very clear on the handle markings. Towels, wash cloth and bathmat all very. My only complaint is the sink counter is small so there’s very little room to put items around the sink.||The hotel itself is very nice. I especially enjoyed the main courtyard/atrium area. It’s a great area just to sit with friends and chat, eat breakfast or dinner. It’s fun riding the glass elevators and easy the spot where your friends are sitting.||The bar at one end of the courtyard. I don’t drink alcohol but the fountain drinks were very good – not watered down as often in the case when ordering from a bar. Every night free chips and veggies are available for guests. I believe on Friday and Saturday evenings the drinks are two for one during happy hour. ||In the morning there’s a breakfast serving area that opens up for one of the best breakfast buffets I’ve ever had. In the evening there is a limited dinner menu you order at the bar and they will bring the food out to you. The food was very good although if you’re expecting full restaurant service, you need to go out for dinner.||The facilities for our convention were very nice. There are sufficient rooms to accommodate all our needs including the breakfast banquet on the final day.||Once again, I can’t say enough about the friendliness of the staff. They were all very accommodating and you could hardly pass a staff member without them at the very least acknowledging you with a smile but most of the time they would greet you and often they asked you how your day was going.||I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re going to be in the San Luis Obispo area. The cost is average for SLO but, for me, without the great breakfast buffet I’d be spending an extra $15-$20 a day just...
Read moreThe entrance and the opening into the hotel was very clean and welcoming. Nonetheless, we weren't greeted or acknowledged. No one was wearing a name badge, so I can't tell you who helped us. Once acknowledged, the staff member assisting us was rude. While the other staff member was assisting another patron with questions, who was very nice and offered to help my boyfriend after she was done with them, who was standing behind me. The one that was helping us didn't seem too friendly. I have no idea if she was having a bad day, or had a bad interaction with the previous patron or because of us. I don't know. She didn't leave me with a great impression that she could assist us if we had any other issues or concerns.
Upon approaching the door to our room, I noticed a couple of ants crawling on the door and thought nothing of it, since there was a tape on the door stating that the room had been cleaned and sanitized, so we entered. We turn the lights on and immediately to our left, we noticed an empty mini water bottle by the light lamp. The front room was clean; however, it had stains on the carpet and smelled like it was doused with Lysol spray right before we came in. After getting situated, I received an automated text from a "Meghan." Not to sure, again, if she was the one that checked us in our not because we couldn't clearly identify who is who. Don't get me wrong, the bed was comfortable and soft, the pillows were fluffy, the sheets were clean. The TV in the sleeping room worked. The mirrors were clean. The microwave as well as the kitchenette area and the refrigerator was clean.
Next, I decided to check if there were more ants. Low and behold the there was! The trail led from the room door towards the right along the wall to behind the from room's TV in towards the bathroom. There were no food or anything that we could clearly see that would've attracted them in the first place. My conclusion about that was that it was a crap room left for a last minute check-in. It was a decent night's stay. The room reminded me of a really run down...
Read moreHere are some issues that I experienced from my recent stay:||1) There were unsightly dirty, used wine glasses left by the entrance door of the room that should've been picked up by the staff but were never picked up. (this is very dangerous)||2) The walls, the popcorn ceilings, and the curtains felt and looked dusty.||3) There was a winged insect flying in my room. (I have witnesses who saw it)||4) The carpet was wet under the brown ottoman chair (not sure with what kind of fluid) and the carpet smelled like cheese flavored popcorn.||5) The mattress springs were clanky, and the mattress itself was sagging at the sides.||6) The air conditioning was blowing cold air in the bedroom, but hot air in the kitchenette area.||6) The wood privacy shutters (next to the door) were disintegrating, and not staying in the closed position. You can be seen from the outside.||7) The shower faucet was corroded and leaking. The hot water adjustment was not working properly. (the most I got was tepid warm water)||8) There were only two towels available for the whole family. (other hotels stock up their rooms with plenty of towels)||9) The desk chair cushion cover was worn, and cracking. The wood finishes of the chair were peeling.||11) I started itching all over my body without stop as soon as I entered the hotel room - It felt like something was crawling on my skin and hair. I could not sleep the whole night. And I'm still itching.||12) Other family members also experienced the itching problem - and still experiencing.||13) In my opinion, if you were to stay in this hotel, you should bring with you a vacuum machine to vacuum the dirty carpets thoroughly. Also, you should bring with you your own mattress, blankets, pillows, and bed sheets. Also, you should bring with you some towels - you're going...
