Before I moved to Marin County, I tried various jewelers all over. I even bought some kind of jewelry everytime we traveled to a new and wonderful place around the world --like New York City, Brazil, Australia, Tahaiti and Hawaii. However, I should have kept my money and waited to buy ALL of my jewelry from Stephan-Hill Jewelers.

After I moved to San Rafael in 1999, I discovered Stephan-Hill Jewelers through a neighbor whose jewelry I admired. John and Marian Garfolo are the owners of Stephan-Hill and they treat everyone who walks into their store very special. They are friendly, yet businesslike, and they never pressure anyone to try on or purchase any of their jewelry. You are free to go in, browse and just look around anytime you wish. In addition, their prices are not only fair, but I have found that they are below what I paid in other countries for some of the same type of jewels. For instance, their South Sea pearl necklaces are nicer than the two I bought --- one in Hawaii and one in Tahaiti. Not only that, but I paid double or more for what John and Marian would have charged me at their store!

Their jewelry is not only exquisite, but their customer service is great too. Once you become a customer, your relationship just begins with them. They will clean your jewelry anytime you stop by, they will do appraisals and repairs, and they will even redesign pieces that you have bought elsewhere. Lori and Derek are two other members of their staff and they treat customers the same as John and Marian -- always friendly, but very professional.

Did I say that John himself designs most of the jewelry in the store? Yes, he does. Everytime I drop by, I see a whole new look in their store as well. It is a feast for the eyes.

I was in town for my son's wedding, and needed to have some of my wife's jewelry looked at prior to the affair. I walked into the store because it is a classy looking, traditional, high quality, free standing jewelry store.

I was greeted by one of the owners, and treated with the highest respect and courtesy.

While the superb service on my pieces was being performed, I had occasion to look at some of the merchandise. It was excellent quality and beautifully presented.

Such a major step up, from the mall stores or the chain stores you hear so much about!
