Unfortunately, I didn’t want to do this on the day after the holidays, but here it is. I was passing through town a week or two ago and it was early. I searched for Boxing Gyms near me while staying at the Hyatt House in San Ramon awaiting pickup for an old BMW. I noticed an old Automotive shop next to a Boxing gym called Benjamin’s Boxing that I wanted to connect with because that’s what I do for a living. I was shadow boxing outside the automotive shop next door when some random bald guy approached me for no reason and yelled at me saying “Get the F out of here, we don’t play that S”. I didn’t say a word other than, “But Coach, I was just waiting for this place to open and then maybe do a drop-in class like I did a week prior when I was in town for a different car. Unfortunately, Coach Ali showed me his true colors and I also was fortunately recording my workout and got it all on film. This gym is never open at the time it says it’s open on Google. I’ve tried a few times. Tristan and Johnny are AWESOME people. I met them the week prior and Tristan even held mitts for me despite some new 20 year old fighter named Ojas at their gym talking smack over social media and trying to set up sparring matches without permission. I honestly arrived to talk with Coach and Tristan personally about it, while also just putting in my own work. Coach Ali arrived casually an hour or two after “Opening Hours” and then didn’t approach me or say hello, he didn’t even notice that I was simply shadowboxing OUTSIDE of his property line, legally. That’s no coach. That’s a guy with an ego. Good luck. I won’t be back.
Word of advice: don’t make assumptions before getting to know someone. It’s not good for business. Be respectful like you treat every one of your fighters. Especially ones wanting to give you business and also potentially donate a few free gym memberships to aspiring fighters that can’t afford it. Now, nah, I think I’ll take my business AND my friendship to another gym. Thanks for nothing, Coach. Have a great life and holiday break. I hope your gym succeeds in 2025.
Edit: I see your response was appropriately defensive. Spoken like a true capitalist. How about I post the video that was recording while I was working out that caught you directly in the act. I was recording for 45 minutes straight. I suppose you could just simple apologize and be a good...
Read moreDon’t think about it, just do it! Signing my son up for personal training and classes with Coach Ali was hands down the best decision ever! My son started at 9 years old and has been a member of Benjamin’s Boxing & Fit for a year now. Coach Ali, along with all the other coaches at the gym, are the absolute best at what they do. Despite my son having no knowledge of the sport whatsoever when he started, Coach Ali made him feel comfortable and never intimidated. The coaches know how to keep it positive, fun, and effective when teaching every age. My son has grown so much, not only in his knowledge and love for boxing, but personally as well. He has become more confident and motivated all around, and big bonus has made great friendships. We can’t thank the coaches enough for all the love and support they pour into this place, and its members. Coach Ali definitely sets a standard on a love and respect for the sport that is reflected onto his team. BB & Fit is definitely not only a gym, but a second home to many. We...
Read moreMy sons 15 and 13 love taking boxing from coach Ali and the rest of the crew. I am so happy that we found this place. We have tried other martial arts dojo's and the end result was my kids learned to fight me about going instead of learning self defense. I felt ripped off because we had a contract to honor before they could quit. The fact coach Ali does not force a long term contract to train should tell you all that you need to know. It was one of the key factors to me signing them up. They do not need a long term commitment because the people and kids in there want to be there. It's not an obligation, it's a lifestyle to reach fitness and mental goals. My 15 year old has never been passionate about a sport in his life and he is absolutely "hooked". My kids as a family unit are rarely on the same page, two completely different kids, but one thing they can agree on is that they love boxing. All I can say is keep up the good work coach Ali and staff we appreciate you...
