Demo-ed two pairs of skis here. Really great prices on demos and the women that helped me where really great. I felt like the owners could have taken their customer service to the level of their employees. The girl who originally helped me was hoping to work something out where I could have a pair of demos all weekend (Friday afternoon to Sunday) and only pay for two days rather than three. When she asked the owner (m) if that were possible he was adamant, and a tad condescending, that if I had the skis for those days that I would be paying $90 ($30/day). The funny thing is that I didn't have to have the skis back until 8 pm the next day! So we skied Friday afternoon/evening then could have easily skied Saturday and returned them by 8 pm. When I returned them and picked up the second pair demos I felt the other owner (f) was looking down her nose at me for demoing a ski that was too heavy and stiff for my daughter, after one of her employees (who was very helpful) recommended the skis....and this was after she had adjusted the binding to fit the boot. Turns out my daughter loves a beefier ski! She had a fantastic day on them and liked them more than the youth ski she had demoed Friday. Not sure I'll be back because of the attitude from both owners. If you're a skier who knows your way around the slopes you might be better off going where you're knowledge and skill won't threaten the owners of the shop.

Read moreI had called Utah Ski Gear earlier in the day and they were super easy to talk to on the phone (I don't like calling stores, it's a generational thing or something). I grew up snowboarding and am now switching to skiing so I had plenty of questions which they answered without seeming annoyed at all. I came into the store about an hour before closing time. Matthew got me sized for boots and skis, again he answered all of my questions. I could tell he wasn't trying to upsell me on anything that was out of my price range or that I wasn't ready for. He seemed to genuinely want to get me in the best setup for where I'm at in terms of ability and gave great advice on how to move forward in the future. At one point another customer came in and commandeered Matthew (this guy was driving back to California that night and was in a rush). Matthew asked if I minded him helping this customer out and some other customers who were also rushing. He was able to get me all setup, answer my questions, and fit my bindings to the new boots, all while helping a bunch of other customers near closing time. In other words, Matthew crushed it. Awesome service, I'm able to get into skiing without breaking the bank, the employees were helpful without ever making me feel stupid for not knowing anything about skiing, and I got in and out quickly. Read moreTook my 14 year old son day after Christmas 2024 to get myself and him a set of used skis for the upcoming season. This was my first visit to Utah Ski Gear. Was kindly and quickly helped by Justin who did an awsome job at finding something within my price range and that fit both my son and myself. The used skis, boots, and polls were actually in really good condition with minimal signs of wear and tear. The skis my son chose looked pratically new. We got Atomics for myself and Deacons for my son.
It got a little busy while we were there and I observed the staff to be very patient and attentive to everyone coming in, considering the space does feel a little cramped, but otherwise tidy.
Will very likely come back once my son grows out of his current setup.
I recommend this location based on: -Cleanliness of the store main floor and upstairs -Timely assistance from the staff within a few minutes of entering -Knowledge of the gear and how to use it, including the measurements and boot to ski settings (I even learned a few things in the process) -Selection of used ski gear. I might call out we don't necessarily have high standards for gear ourselves - we usually just rent from the resorts when we go, so folks who are more enthusiasts may find the selection a bit more limited - but again, this was day after Christmas where stock was more impacted.)
