We came here to have all you can eat shabu shabu for our second time. (3 time for my husband) Right after we placed our order, something in the kitchen(in front of the counter table) fell like a domino and made huge noise. We didn’t really care that much because stuff like that just happens. But right after that, one of the employee(maybe the owner of the restaurant?) started YELLING two of the employees in Chinese. There were two people sitting on the counter table. I don’t know what he was yelling about, but if he’s gonna discipline his employee, why not to go to the back of the restaurant so that you don’t have to do that in front of everybody. We felt so uncomfortable being there. This guy kept coming to the counter kitchen in and out and EVERYTIME he went there, he’d yell at him. Being a Japanese, I would hate if people didn’t know that they are Chinese, and saw them as Japanese. It is “Japanese restaurant” but I did not see single Japanese workers there. That kind of behavior is unacceptable in Japan and it’s a shame they are representing “Japanese food” here in America. On the top of that, apparently they charge you with “dinner price” even for lunch since it’s a weekend. Our waiter never told us that and the menu we were giving did not say that. We are NEVER returning there again.

I would give this place a negative. It's a scam for people who've never had shabu shabu. I've had shabu shabu at multiple Japanese restaurants before. How are you expected the cook meat when the pot never boils and they tell you this is the expectations. Clearly they don't have a standard for their food. The rice was stale and hard. Never brought out water either. I asked the server what kind of mushroom was on the menu since it simply said "mushroom". She didn't know the answer and pointed me toward the picture. Turns out the mushroom in the picture wasn't the same as the mushroom they served. I then asked if they had uni nigiri, to which the server also had no idea what it was. If you have an standard for food you'd avoid this restaurant. If you're going to run a Japanese restaurant run it right, know your stuff. Scroll through the reviews, anyone who's had shabu shabu before frowns upon this place. At this price range it's a joke. Quality of service was whatever. Food is also whatever. Only reason I finished the food is cause I don't like to waste. Take some notes from the chain Gokudo shabu shabu.

I had a great experience! And this was my first time getting hot pot! Parking is easy (though we did go on a Sunday morning), but there are lots of spaces in Union Square. Two of us got the all you can eat shabu shabu hot pot and one all you can eat BBQ (which we shared). The grills and hot pots are so cool and aesthetic and they use sterno to heat them. It wasn't smoky, and the sterno smell wasn't too noticeable or gross. The flames on the grill were trying to escape sometimes, though. The food is DELICIOUS. We got the tonkatsu broth, and we ordered lots of beef! On the BBQ side, we had pork belly and beef. My friend also got hot sake, which comes with its own heater so it doesn't lose warmth! All three dipping sauces were extremely tasty, and there's also some extra seasonings on the table. The staff was very kind and attentive. The menu was a bit confusing, but when we asked for clarification, the staff explained it to us well. I also think the price is great! Would definitely come back here again!!

The food was excellent, unfortunately not worth it for the service. Don’t get the sushi all you can eat, because they only serve one at a time and you’re lucky if they come to your table again after serving you. At the end we were finally able to ask for another roll/more items and we never received them. For the price of the restaurant I do expect at least a minimum amount of service, this place gave none and wasn’t worth the price. The service was extremely rude and for an all you can eat option you need to at least stop by every once and a while to see if more is needed, this never happened.

We first had a waitress who told us we could ask her for anything, and then she never came back. We then asked a random waiter to take our order, his name was Peter. We did receive our initial order and after a while we had finished, we were waiting for another round but the fire was still going on the barbecue grills and no one had come to ask if we wanted anything else. I noticed the barbecue grills starting to burn/smoke because again no one had asked if we wanted more, so there was no food to put on. We asked Peter to take our order and help with the burning barbecue, so he turned it completely off. When we finally got a second round, we asked him to turn it back on at he yelled at us “you just asked me to turn it off” and walked away. For the rest of the dinner no one came to turn it back on. I wouldn’t have said anything about the burning surface had I known... Throughout the entire meal I only received one sushi roll, even though I asked multiple times for more. Peter was extremely rude every time we would ask for more, saying “sure one minute” but he would never come back. At the end of the dinner once we had asked someone else for a check (again, no actual service), we paid and were about to leave when Peter came back, and quite literally yelled at us and asked what we had to drink, apparently they had forgotten it on the check. Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience, he asked us multiple times what each of us had had and seemed quite angry at us for an error that wasn’t our fault. Overall, very disappointing considering the food we do get was good and it’s difficult to find good Shabu shabu im Salt Lake, we won’t be back because of...

I have always had a good experience here but on Saturday the 18th, it couldn’t be worse. While the restaurant was what would be considered a normal flow of diners, my partner and I were standing at the podium for around 10 minutes just waiting to be seated. Not the biggest deal, it is what it is. Once seated our waiter was prompt with our drinks and after that the service went downhill very quickly. We ordered the all you can eat sushi for the two of us ($72 and some change with tax included as the final bill). Once ordering the first roll it took 20 minutes to receive it and following that it took yet again another 20 minutes for the waiter to bring out the second roll. The Ginza roll we had ordered with eel sauce came out and had fruit flies/ gnats on top of it and hovering around the dish. Where we didn’t have any bugs around us prior to this, the sushi roll was the clear reason for the bugs.

Our waiter was unfortunately not attentive and we were out of drinks after the first 20 minutes of us sitting down. When our waiter had finally come back to us, he asked if we wanted to order any other rolls and we told him we would need just a minute but we would like him to come back. Instead, he had dropped the bill on the table and never came back. Paying for the all you can eat sushi was not worth it as the wait time for the rolls was ridiculous and the quality was disappointing. The cost of the rolls without us paying for the all you can eat sushi came out to be way less and we had in fact paid more for the “all you can eat” than we would have for the rolls by themselves. It’s disappointing as we had intended to order more to get our money’s worth and just enjoy the sushi in general and we were unable to do so.

The service was disappointing and it’s unfortunate because it is usually spot on and the food is always perfect. I’m not sure if it was just that night that things were not as great as they typically are, but either way, the Ginza roll with the fruit flies/gnats flying on and around it is...
