I just finished my LVN program in this school and now licensed in two different states.
Indeed, nursing school was very challenging. However, the staff and faculty did their best to help it become a little more manageable. The teachers are very well-versed with the topics they teach, and they only not teach you lessons from the books, but also "tips and tricks" you can use in real life settings as well. The DON is really hard-working. She tried to cater everyone's schedule, and was always reaching out to clinical sites to be able to provide us the best clinical experience possible. Mrs. Jackson, is always there, almost 24/7 ready to help you whenever help is needed. Whenever, we do reach out and voice out our concerns, she doesn't take them personally and always sees things in an objective manner, trying to help you get to a solution to whatever it may be, as long as it's within reason. She became a confidant as well. Along the way, mental breakdowns, and feeling very defeated are common things you experience during nursing school, and she became the person you can go to to express these, and reassure you that you should always give yourself some grace. She still is the voice inside my head telling me things I need to do whenever I need things to get done up to now.
The clinical instructors, mainly Mr. T and Ms. Patricia are very helpful as well. They made sure we learn the most we can from the clinical sites that were provided for us. They are very articulate, professional and had the best communication skills that made the relationships with the people we work with in our sites be smoother. With that, trust was built, and most of the facilities we go to teach and let us be exposed to most of the patients where we learned more about real-life, on the job instances.
Clinical sites were all different, depending on what caters to your schedule, and they make it to a point everyone experience all types of clinical settings you may be getting a job, soon after graduation. It's mostly long term care, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, post acute facilities, but there are also outpatient clinics like Facey Providence and Kaiser Permanente where we experienced being in settings namely Urgent Care, Emergency Care, and specialty offices like internal medicines, Peds and OB.
Every time I try to share my stories on how I experienced my clinicals to other people, they are very surprised, telling me that their clinicals from their school was not the same. And, for that I am very thankful.
I really appreciate all the pieces of experience this school has given me, and I do recommend...
Read moreI had an amazing experience at Moriah Medical College. I recommended it for everyone and anyone. I must say that the DON, Ms.Jackson really cares about her students and the people she allow in her team. When I first started Moriah Medical, it was a bit of a struggle to understand where I belong but they hand pick each student to go into a cohort and they get to know the student individually. It does not feel like you are just a number or money for them, you really feel the work that the teachers put into their students. Ms.Jackson is really knowledgeable and really understands what she is taking about. If you were able to get her as a teacher, she seems strict but she teaches in a way that you get to understand the information and know all of the material of the lesson. In some schools they give busy work to pass time but in Moriah, the material they give the students are very purposeful and will help in the end goal. I must say the staff especially Mrs.Krista and Ms.Edna are one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. I am not ashamed to say that I have struggled in a lot of ways but they are staff members that go above and beyond for their students. Ms. Edna and Ms.Krista will listen to my problems outside of school and always have something encouraging to say. Ms.Edna really does get down to business when she has to so don’t take her kindness for granted . Mrs. Krista, there is not enough words to express how amazing she is, she shows that she wants to build relationships and help each student learn the information in their way. You can tell that she puts extra time and thought into how she presents her information and really tries to encourage the students the best way. I had an amazing cohort lucky but to be honest it sounds like every cohort is special in their own ways. I must say the people that I met in this school are friends for a life time. We really helped each other and always tried to collaborate in any way possible. For anyone who is thinking about joining this school, don’t question it! Just do it! Word of Advise, any material or things they might suggest to do is for your benefit, don’t treat it like a suggestion but another homework task or something that is mandatory to do. Best school! They have connections to different facilities for clinical and it allows me to build my connections as LVN. I’m excited to hear that hopefully that start their LVN-to-RN program because I would love to come back and be part of family again… and yes I and most of my cohort passed the NCLEX with minimal amount of...
Read moreHaving just passed my NCLEX with minimal questions and 1 try, I truly owe it all to Moriah Medical College. From the moment I started the 15 month long journey, all the way to the finish line, I was guided through a challenging learning process. The staff and instructors are caring, knowledgeable and amazing. They wanted everyone to succeed. Depending on your cohort, and clinical groups, your experience may vary based on the instructor’s skills and expertise. There were plenty of doubts at first, and they have seen my struggles to balance family issues with school work. One person stood out the most, the program director, Mrs Jackson. She is very personable and approachable to every one of the students. Many times, she kept encouraging me to trust in her methods and the process. And It really worked! This college knows what they are doing. The curriculum is really built to increase your knowledge layer by layer, and depth by depth one term at a time. I’m proud to be a...
