When: 19-31 May 24 (multiple visits/purchases) Who: Sara & Kendall Dept: Aquatic
T O P T I E R knowledge AND customer service, at a big box store!?! Yup, you read that right.
We were at Petco looking for reasonably priced decorations for a tank we set up, overheard Sara (nametag) giving clear, concise directions to someone. She was kind, patient and not condescending, nor did she appear irritated. After she finished with him, we asked for assistance. Talking more and more with Sara, her passion for the department (and animals in general) was evident.
To get our water where it needed to be required several trips back and forth; one of those visits we were helped out by Kendall (nametags for the win) ... I/we were both absolutely blown away by the knowledge and passion both employees consistently displayed. Ordinarily, I cannot stand to see the condition of fish (especially bettas) in large stores, here some bettas are in actual tanks and the ones that are in the cups have had fresh water when we've been there. Lots of helpful tips for tank owners are written on the glass (freshwater plants help clean the water), family fun (find the mickey mouse etc.). Their love and passion is evident, they take pride in their department and have a way of really connecting with customers making it easy to ask "dumb" questions to prevent unnecessary losses and expensive mistakes. Talking with these two, we have removed all of our fake plants, replaced them with living plants. We've added several schooling fish, gourami for nature's population control and some algae eaters. There was continuity between what Sara told us and what Kendall told us, no conflicting information. Our fish and plants are starting to thrive, before they were surviving. When we go to set up the small tank (40G) we will be seeking out Kendall and Sara for expert advice, see what they have in stock and what they can order. Seriously, if you have a tank, looking at starting one, rusty on different tank probs, new filters etc. Sara & Kendall both have extensive knowledge and are genuinely as excited as you are to help you get your fish etc. thriving at home. I sincerely hope the manger recognizes and rewards their exemplary work. Last but not least, KUDOS to to the manager for actually recognizing & using people’s...
Read moreThis is for the hospital inside. I was in a tight spot in life but had my girl i got 4 years ago from ventura pound to give me strength and purpose. Well few days ago she stopped eating, moving smiling and lost half her weight. I'd have to carry her out to pee and she lay down next to it exhausted. Unemployment ended 2 weeks ago and after calling 23 places to get her aid/relief i saw a coupon for free exam for new customers at Petco in Santa Clarita. They booked us first thing when they opened. From when they first answered my call until I was gently told of her imminent demise and options for care til she left us, I felt respected and knew the Dr and her staff cared for Rosie like family. After giving me time to cry and cuddle Rosie and pull myself together, I was given food for her to try to eat and told all costs were covered and could leave whenever I felt ready. Im 50 and never believed in a higher power but I know I was guided to these incredible people. Thank you Doctor and your staff from both Rosie and myself. I will pay this blessing forward and share our experience to anyone looking for vet care knowing you will provide that and so much more. Thank you for treating pets AND people. You are...
Read moreThis is my local Petco. While I try to buy my pet stuff online where it’s cheaper I always end up there A couple times a month to grab something I can’t wait for. I have four cats so it can get a bit crazy. We do shop at Trader Joe’s which is right next-door very frequently and for the last couple of years my son will literally dart out the car and ask if he can go into Petco to see the kitties. Today I followed him to get my happy fix too and I was so absolutely disappointed to see the entire wall as you walk in to your right is longer housing the cats that need homes but instead this over the top refrigerator display of this brand new dog food line! Trust me when I tell you that I understand that business is business and we everyone needs to make money but because I understand this and I am in marketing I also know that people who might’ve been on the fence on adopting may be the ones who walk in and see these beautiful animals for adoption and might be more inclined to take one home! Also what about all the people whom gravitate towards them just to give him a little hello!!!??? They are so out-of-the-way that I had to actually turn the corner to find the them. Petco I know you can do...
