Just a note for those getting marriage licenses: in our case the clerk made several mistakes in the information. This is because Santa Cruz does not have a method for applicants to fill in their information electronically (like, for example, Santa Clara). Thus you come with a printed piece of paper and the clerk enters the data in the system, often incorrectly. The clerk had to fix several errors in our case when we reviewed the printout. But, we missed one. Once the license is signed, if you then detect an error, you have to pay for the license all over again. After the initial call, they called me back to let me know that my 16-year-old would need to bring in a photo ID. Once we were there with our paperwork and items we were courteously and efficiently processed, including making a needed photocopy of my ID. We were in and out in under 15 minutes.
