Unbelievable!!!! I paid $895.72 for two nights staring at a noisy freeway. 90s decor. A noisy air conditioner that keeps you up all night. Noisy young guest that likes to hang in the hall ways and yell on their cell phones. $32.00 per night parking. They claim that their hotel is the only place to park but, that is a lie!! across the road is a huge public parking lot that only charges $5.00 per day next to the police station. I have stayed at doubletrees and hiltons 100s of times inside and outside of the U.S. and I stay at these places because I can be assured that its going to be a comfortable clean and upscale stay over like motel 6 which in this case would have made this place look like the ghetto dump it is! The shower was small and the bed was as hard as a rock! It takes a lot to get a negative review out of me. I can normally over look certain things as long as the bed is soft and comfortable but even the sheets where rougher than sandpaper I kid you not! When I travel, I like to stay in a place that is better then my home to get the real feel of pampering and travel. My home by far more luxurious then the place could ever hope to be. The beach is 4 blocks away so do not buy into the bs that they tell you the pier is just right next door because its not! Their is no ocean view room as they advertise online! You have a view of the main street and across the road is a police station and a huge parking garage that is much taller then their building. Behind the building their are run down apartments and a freeway. Thats it!! I ordered room service by the pool, something they tell you in their brochure they accommodate. An hour and a half later the waiter still didn't come by the tiny little pool and I had to go down to their restaurant to order the food and then bring it back up to the pool. Me and my wife were married this last May. I reserved a condominium right on the beach of Kappa in Kauai HI for 7 days. We had an awesome ocean view right on the beach. Very secluded. My only complaint was no air conditioner at first but I was able to over look that because of all the awesome amenities. It costed me $2000.00 for "7" days, and these people think they are better then that for almost a thousand dollars for just two nights in a dumpy run down facility? CROOKS! Doubletree? Hilton? You people should be ashamed of yourselves!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else! Their are much better places in Santa Monica to stay and for a lot less on your wallet. Otherwise you will be on this site posting another...
Read moreI am currently in the hotel and checking out in the morning. The breakfast is overpriced, so we've elected to walk a short distance to Starbucks every morning. Four of us now get breakfast for about $20 rather than $28pp. The actual Starbucks in the hotel lobby has terrible customer service. My wife gave her order 4 times yesterday ... but was still delivered the wrong order.
The room fridges have no freezer section in them. That might not seem a big deal, but we have a Type 1 Diabetic daughter whose insulin and other medication needs to be kept cool. The fridge was fine during our stay, but we need our travel freezer packs cold and frozen, so when we travel a long distance in the morning, the medication stays at the correct temperature. I went to the front desk to request the 4 small packs be placed in the freezer overnight only to be told "sorry hotel policy is to not do that. We don't even store breast milk if mothers ask us to". I challenged them on their lack of common sense and understanding of the situation, and I was instructed to use the ice machines on each floor, which won't give us what we need, but we'll do it anyway. If there's a large puddle of water on the floor of our room in the morning Hilton, then that is your problem, and you can deal with it because you caused it.
Oh, and if you arrive an hour or two early, they'll try and sting you an extra $100 to check in before 1. Even if your room is ready.
The rooms also have no cutlery or cups, so think about what you're ordering if you're going the Uber Eats route. Also, they don't sell milk in the little kiosk but they'll happily charge you a fortune for a cup of it at the Starbucks so you can make your own coffee in the room to start your day.
I've travelled the world and I've lived in a number of countries. The lack of attention to detail, foresight, and common sense shown by management and staff is quite frankly disappointing.
No doubt there will be a response from the hotel with some standard lines wheeled out to try and counter what I've said here. But Hilton, as you're copying and pasting in those standard results, have a think about how many people will read this review and look elsewhere ... all because you won't store 4 small ice packs for one night that will help protect vital medication...
Read moreThe location is within walking distance of the beaches and restaurants. The food was good, but pricey. 20% surcharge added on your bill, with an expectation of extra tip. The room service was inconsistent with quanity and quality (food was cold once; number of bacon pieces varied each time ordered; one butter provided for two pieces of toast). ||I encountered some additional issues outlined below.||1. My kid hurt herself in the pool area. Something sharp was in the pool that caused her toenail to rip off ( half off on one toe and not at the bade). I was able to take care of it, but it put a damper on our experience. The pool is between 3-4 feet. Great for kids. It is freezing though. Even with the sun out, would quite warm up in the pool.||2. At 1am again around 2am, some random woman kept banging on my hotel room door asking to be let in. I told her she had the wrong room (did not open the door) the first time. She came back an hour later, and kept banging. This was a bit frightening. Kept the bolt on for the remainder of the stay. You need a key card to access the guest rooms. But a card can access any floor.||3. Everyone already complains about the $35 destination fee for each night. Unfortunately, I was given misinformation by the front desk. After checking in close to midnight, I was told that the fee would be waved the first night since I was checking so late and could not use the credit the same day (only had a few minutes to spare). Unfortunately, I was still charged the first night. If I knew I would still be charged, I would have purchased something from the mini mart as soon as I checked in.||4. On the last day, I noticed some guest with Hilton beach chairs and towels headed to the beach. This information would have been helpful to me on the first day as we went to the beach several times during our stay.||5. As an honors member, I assumed we would get bottled waters every day. This was not the case. Only during check-in, we got 2 bottles.||6. Our room was only cleaned twice. And coffee bar not properly restocked. ||At $300+a night +taxes +fees, I...
