In town for a few days had my pup with me and wanted to grab a bite before checking into my hotel. OMG it is HOT in Savannah, I stopped by this Kafe quickly close to my destination. The location was very spacious, and had indoor and outdoor seating. Again I had Di'Nero with me so I had to dine outside, they had specials during the day for drinks and food which is always a good thing. The service was great, I did not get a chance to get the servers name I'm sure she told me, caught her on a shift change so I low key had two servers and no I do not remember the other name either lol do not judge me please I was hungry. The place was empty so I was seated quickly and I literally got my food in minutes. Food was decent. I had the Korean BBQ chicken tacos, I hate giving bad reviews but I have a responsibility to be honest when writing these. The food was extremely underwhelming, and what I mean by that is I could have made a taco just as good or better from home. I also had a drink it was their Hot Honey Daiquiri (do not ask me why, I try different things just so I can tell you all about it), was not to my liking. I am not a fan of Daiquiris though so I'm not sure how valuable my opinion is, I will not say they made a nasty drink I'd love to hear someone else's opinion.

I got the veggie burger and soup of the day (tomato basil soup) for my meal, and had the vegan peach cobbler for dessert. Veggie Black Bean Burger: It was pretty dry, super thick and way too dense in my opinion. It crumbled away with every bite. Also, it didn’t really have much flavor. Lastly, the listing for the burgers is weird. All burgers are listed under the $14.99 price, but if you look at the 2 non-veg burgers, they have the option to add sweet potato fries for +$1. But if you want to add fries to the veg burgers, you have to pay the full $4 and add it as a side. Makes no sense. And the only explanation the manager could give me was “that’s just how our menu is laid out.” Okay… Tomato Basil Soup: delicious, chunky, comes with some lovely saltine crackers, perfect serving size Vegan Peach Cobbler: didn’t enjoy the flavor at all. It put me in the mind of play dough Other: They have other desserts that I didn’t try that day, but the brownie (non-vegan) looked good. I’ll probably go back and try that. Also, the music was nice, and the space was clean and aesthetically pleasing. Service was decent.

Second visit. First time was acceptable. Hippidy dippity kinda place with healthy options; where business lunch goers mix and mingle with lurking day drinkers. Today Turkey Chili on a cold day, sounded good. Well after finding a metal object in the chili, I won't be returning. The flavor of the chili was just Ok. The disaster was a piece of metal hidden in between the beans and meat. I almost swallowed it, Ugggg. I mean, I guess things like this happen, but really? I spoke quietly to the bartender about it. ALL she said was "what is that, how did it get in there?" I softly said maybe the cook should check the pot to see if more metal pieces are in there. She said nothing. Never mentioned it again, didn't even pick the metal piece up from the bar. No manager came out, no chef seemed notified, Nothing! Then the bill came and the real smack in the face was I was charged for the chili. Funny right! I guess I shouldn't have eaten so much of it or acted more upset. Today is a thumbs down for the Kayak Kafe', go check the pot of chili if any is left.

Out of the 4 times I have been to Savannah and all of the places I’ve eaten this is now my favorite place. I am amazed at how pleasant our experience was. I was skeptical about the building but when we walked in it was bright especially with it being overcast today. There was no hostess at the hostess stand so we sat at the bar. The bartender, Kara asked us if we were limited on time because they had just taken a few large take out orders. We were not. The menu was very easy to read and had icons for the vegan and vegetarian options. There was a wide variety of those options which was nice because a lot of places only have one or two and you kind of feel like you have to eat something cause that’s all they have. We got the tater tots for an app and they were really good! We ate them super fast. There was a little wait for our food but we were not concerned about it knowing that they were working on a large to go ($300+). I could tell Kara was a little worried because another customer came in well after us and ordered and received her food before us, I didn’t see what she ordered other than soup I think a sandwich. I ordered the black eyed pea burger because of the red pepper aioli- oh my god so good!! My fiancé ordered the walnut tacos which was my first choice then I had to pick something else cause he wanted it and they were amazing as well. I was so surprised at how good both of our dishes were. I also got the sangria and it was really good too. Definitely dishes you would stick to every time you come in but I can tell if I were to order something else it would be just as good. Your kitchen is awesome and you can tell they take pride in their work. I want to thank Kara again for being so polite and awesome, she is a keeper. Can’t wait...

I use to always go to this place to get a black eye pea burger. After today's customer service, I will not be returning. 1st when I walked in the host greeted me, which was fine. But I waited for the lady in to go for 5 mins, when she finally came out she spoke to a man sitting and prepare his drink then looked at me and said Hi. At this point I just said I'm here for pick up. She then then slide my card etc on the counter top. Once I got to work I looked at my burger and it was burnt really bad. So I called to speak to a manager and the manager said to IS IT NOT EATABLE😒. I said no it is burnt, she then said you know we cook it in a fryer. I said to her yes I know I have ate there plenty of times. So she asked if I wanted another I said how long will it take, she said no long. How long is not long, she just said not long.. I then said well I'm on my lunch break I'll just get my money back. Then she said ooh okay well we put the money on a gift card. At this point I don't even care if I get my money back. When in get there with my food I showed the girl in to go and she even said that it is a little burnt as she gave me the gift card, then I said to her No don't worry about the card. She gave it to me anyways. Kinda funny because even if I don't want the food anymore or the gift card you still basically say my $11 you still going to get anyways. No customer service skills at all. Therefore, I will not return, and yes they got my $11 and yes I gave away my gift card. I work customers service all types for over 16yrs. Thanks, but no thanks. There are plenty of other places...
