Theatrical Artist’s Prep saved my life (Not really, this may be a bit of an exaggeration) but it has re-ignited my love of acting. Samantha Simpson, owner, director and instructor of Theatrical Artist Prep provides a studio environment that is safe, supportive, and lends itself to inspiring creativity. For me, this space and Sam gave me the tools to focus on sharpening my skills and continue my growth as an actor. Prior to meeting Samantha, and going to Theatrical Artists Prep, my mom and I would go to the city for acting classes every Saturday, or Wednesday night, or both. It really took a toll (pun intended) on me and my mom. Now just a short drive from my house, I can experience first rate coaching, self-taping and attend regular classes with seasoned professionals. Theatrical Artist's Prep also has an alliance with Actors Technique NY, where I started my acting education. TAP is a fantastic, full-service performing arts studio located right in North Jersey! My daughter started in 2018 with a summer workshop at Theatrical Artist’s Prep. She was the oldest child in the program and felt somewhat out of place. Sam and the staff recognized this and worked with her separately when they could and made sure that she was challenged appropriately. She just completed the 3 week summer workshop this past July. They put together Alice in Wonderland in 3 weeks time and it was fantastic. Sam and her staff teach the kids not just acting skills, but life skills. How to make eye contact, how to speak with confidence and to not be afraid to “go for it”! The main theme that underlines all of their programs is “fun”! Have fun! Don’t stress and who cares if you make a mistake...it really is a stress free environment where they encourage team work over competition. My kids have had a wonderful experience at TAP. They just finished working on the spring musical together and I am so impressed. They loved attending practices because I think the coaches are really adept at providing structure and discipline while keeping things light, fun and high energy. Both my kids went into the program sort of reluctantly and my son specifically, who has a hard time with group activities in general, came out saying, "I feel so much more confident about myself after participating." Best thing a mom could possibly hear. Aside from the social and emotional benefits, the actual instruction and performances are excellent. The shows are so much fun to watch and the kids do a really beautiful job. The dedication and professionalism of all involved is really evident in the outcome of the production.
