Here's How 1 60-minute Gym Session At Mountain Side cost me over $600
This is the WORST Cancellation Process at a gym that I have ever seen in my entire 20-year experience in lifting and fitness.
Here's why...
I signed up for a month-to-month membership right before the pandemic when Mountainside had a trail going and promised to stay open (thanks for trying!).
I was able to come and work out once, then unfortunately the gym got shut down.
So, my next steps - I reached out via email to cancel the membership - no response. Then I called the gym multiple times - no one was answering the phones. They were closed, so I could not stop by and cancel in person.
I didn't mind when I got charged $45 for the first month because I love the fitness community and wanted to support them throughout the hard times (all gyms got hit hard during COVID). But when Month 2 came, I tried to pause/cancel the payments and have never been able to get a hold of anyone. The corporate office NEVER picks up the phone. So I decided to just block the payments via my bank and then I forgot about it (my responsibility to follow up on this 100%).
When I looked at my bank account recently and saw that the bank didn't process the request to block any charges from MS (Over $600 in charges), it got very annoying and frustrating. Now, I have spent thousands of dollars on fitness, PTs, competitions, and value fitness a lot, but when you keep getting charged for nothing and the customer service SUCKS, that's a different story. Plus it's a waste of time and energy.
I got a hold of MS location now, and they got me a number to contact a rep in the corporates office. Guess what? No one is EVER answering the phones, neither returns Voicemails. The gym also instructed me to send them a letter with a key number and my email (I guess to make sure I get verification about cancellation - ridiculous!) I'm now overseas in Russia and not able to send MS a letter via mail to finally cancel this, so I will probably get charged again - can't wait!
Really was holding off from writing this, especially in a lot of negative light, but you guys just didn't leave a choice. I hope you will improve your customer/cancelation support because the gyms overall have good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally was surprised at the size of the gym! Great amount of equipment and free weights!! Plenty of space and a comfortable atmosphere. Veronica was fantastic super upbeat and explained all the pricing in details making sure everything made sense and worked for my work out agendas. I had previously given this five stars, but today was a pretty bad experience after signing up before the first for the month I waited patiently for two weeks just to get my training session. After being pushed back the day of my session is here. Mountainside Fitness nor Lily Brezler the trainer even reached out to me to inform me that not only was my session canceled the trainer no longer even worked there. Very unprofessional and down right uncourteous. The gentleman who tried to "reschedule" me seemed less than informative and understanding seeming as though he could care less that I was just completely ignored by their facility as well as previous trainer. If you are signing up here get specifics. It seemed like they care about their customers, but with this one they really dropped the ball. Update: I know this is a long one, but I just wanted to add and upgrade a star for them. After I brought my issues to Veronica whom signed me up initially she made it a point to have me taken care of. Today was my first training session and Ivan was fantastic. Immediately made me feel at ease and upbeat. He had some amazing knowledge and really seemed to care about my problems areas which was fantastic. I sustained injuries in a car crash a few years ago. He actually took the time to stretch and work my shoulder out. It was painful, but in an amazing way. I'm already looking forward to learning and perfecting my lifting skills from him. Really made me feel like a part of the Mountainside...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was in the Scottsdale and Shea location on 6/30 as a guest on my boyfriends membership. When I arrived on 6/30 the daycare attendant was covering the front desk and informed me she did not know what she had to do to complete the guest pass. She had me fill out a form and took a copy of my drivers license to get me going for a guest pass. There was no follow up on a guest pass after my gym visit that day, instead I received a voicemail urging me to sign up for a membership the same day as my first visit. I returned today, 7/1, to continue my guest pass as I still was not completely sold on the gym. I had a horrendous experience upon arriving. I asked the kind lady at the front desk why I had to fill out the same form again and why they had to take my drivers license again. She didn't have an answer and instead looked behind us at a woman in a gray shirt/jacket with blonde hair. The lady with blonde hair had a horrible attitude and was extremely snippy. The final straw that caused me to just walk out and leave was her telling me "well you will have to deal with me anyways". If this is how you are treating potential members I could not imagine how you would treat your current members. I understand everyone at this point in time may be feeling some undue frustration and stress, I look at going to the gym as the one place that should be stress free. I believe you need to retrain your staff on being inviting and family friendly as it aligns with your...
