First, I'll start by saying that the food, once I was served, was good. Nowhere near worth the price. Certainly not worth the wait.
The only reason I came by here was that they have a sign proclaiming that they are mostly gluten-free. I walked in, the place is empty, and I waited quite a while before anyone bothered to come out and seat me, without a menu. Eventually the waitress brought me out pita bread with onions. I asked her if the pita bread was gluten-free and she told me of course it wasn't.
Now, I figured this, however, if your restaurant is proud to be gluten free, and hangs a sign outside to encourage customers seeking gluten-free foods then a) you should ask first before you bring out (not counting desserts) the main item of food that ISN'T gluten-free out to your customer and b) don't be rude to your customer. Look, you just basically waved something delicious that I miss in front of me and in effect said "too bad you can't have this."
Getting past that, I was finally given a menu, and PLENTY of time to decide what I wanted. I ordered the Chicken Filet Sultani, which is chicken kabob with a ground meat koobideh kabob.
The koobideh was good, the chicken was kind of tough. Not dry, but maybe overdone.
I then also had to wait for the waitress to come around for me to pay the bill. I just dropped cash and left.
If you are craving Persian food and you are in North Scottsdale, do not go to Pars. Get back onto Frank Lloyd Wright and drive west until you get to Scottsdale Road, then go north a little way and enjoy The...
Read moreWe dined at this restaurant a few nights ago. The waitress was super nice & helpful. We decided to order the Pars Special which consists of: Barg kebab (filet mignon), Cornish hen (240z) & koobideh served with Basmati rice for $38.
We got our food in a timely manner and was super disappointed with this dish. First of all, the meat used for the Barg was NOT anything to resemble Filet Mignon as mentioned on the menu (could not even cut the pieces of the meat with 6 strokes of my knife); I don't even think it was Top Sirloin and there was maybe 12oz of the Cornish hen vs. the 24 oz mentioned on the Menu.
I confronted the waitress and she was adamant about the quality of the meat being Filet Mignon even though I mentioned that I am an avid top steak house goer and know the quality of the meats I eat. Later on, I saw the Chef/Owner (I Believe) delivering some dishes; flagged him down and voiced my concerns and he mentioned that I could have possibly gotten the head of the Filet which tends to be tougher than the rest.
I could not believe what I was hearing since I know people in the restaurant business and the excuse he made threw me over the top. This restaurant charges top prices and substitutes way lesser quality meat and portion.
I am a Persian myself and it is super disappointing to see that people from my own country pull these stunts which is truly embarrassing. To top of all off after not being able to eat the substitute meat, they offered a 10% lousy discount. This was my cue to leave this restaurant and...
Read morePerfect place for a date night. Romantic atmosphere. Been here twice so far and can't wait to come back. The first time I had Hummus and Maust' Khiar (yogurt) and pita to start. Very creamy and delicious. For dinner I had the Beef & Chicken shish combo plate. The meat was juicym tender and the veggies were crisp. Also a side of special rice the Zereshk Polo, with nuts and berries mixed. The rice is not dry so I like that. Very delicious. For dessert I had the Persian ice cream, that has wonderful pistachio and rose flavor unlike any ice cream. The next time, I tried this wine that was made from pomegranate. It was not too sweet and much better than plum wine. Never had anything like that before. I also had the requisite pita and hummus. I love shish, but I was encouraged to try the stews. They had interesting flavors unlike other stews. I also tried the Oyster Mushrooms that taste really good in their marinated sauce. They go great over rice. For dessert I had the baklava. It was very nutty and sweet. The staff are very friendly and helpful with recommendations. They even explained the meaning and history behind the lovely art on the walls. Everything is good here, lots of unique flavors and large portions. I think this is the best...
