You know what is the worst? It’s when your favorite hairdresser leaves the salon where you’ve had an amazing experience previously to include- cut (every time) and balayage. 3 days before my son’s wedding 3.23.24, I called SalonFour8Zero to see if they had a stylist available that was skilled with using razor/sheering. Think- Victoria Beckham. I also had about 6 pictures that indicated what I wanted vs. what I did not want. I was hesitant to book with a stylist I hadn’t consulted with before but, I took the risk because, I was unable to get into my stylist due to our schedules not syncing. I took a risk & it went very wrong. It went so wrong that even whilst cutting my hair like she didn’t care, Melanie Csutak disregarded me stopping her numerous time to ask what she is doing. While I slowed her to ask if she needed to see the photo again. She said no. I’m thinking, this has to improve. No. It did not at all. It got even more uncomfortable and awkward when Melanie made sure to roll her eyes and make faces to the stylist on her right when I expressed dismay. Beyond disappointment, I asked Melanie if she or someone planned to fix it because, that’s not what I wanted. Melanie proceeds in an “I’m bored” fashion to unvelcro the “cape of dread”from my shoulders and tell me that she has a client that is coming in and that she has already spent 90 minutes with me. She spent 90 minutes with me because, I had to say- do you need to see the picture again- because - this cut is nothing like what I have shown you. Since she was strapped with scissors, I was as polite as possible. When a client asks if you have experience and you lie that you do, when you don’t- that’s dishonest. The right thing to do which Melanie did not do was to speak up and admit you do not have the skills, knowledge and ability and experience. As a female, our hair is our crown. The stylists on both sides of Melanie could hear my frustration while I say “I’m not trying to be a “Karen” but, I don’t like this cut. It’s not what I wanted & I’d shown you pictures. I felt so uncomfortable. One of the owners was there mixing a bowl of color. Did they see Melanie’s cut & attitude? I get home- think about my son’s upcoming wedding and start making calls to see if I could get the now chopped up hair corrected. The salon I made an appt. with took pictures of Melanie’s haircut and the Salon Manager offered to speak for how awful it was if the SalonFour8zero owner wished to verify. They documented by taking pictures of how uneven it was. I saw Andrew at Ulta Desert Ridge for immediate cut correction at the last minute. Andrew evened up my hair until I could get in with my stylist that I had gone to recently for color (Alex @ Taglio Salon.) Alex is in the apprenticeship program and, her cuts and color are exactly as requested as long as you can wait a week or 2 for an appointment. I call SalonFour8zero & request a refund. I text pictures of my hair before and after Melanie chopped it. I sent the pictures I had shown Melanie when asking if she knows how to do this cut. Melanie says - even after I show her the pic. that I want a bob with layers. No! I don’t. Melanie texts sorry you don’t like your hair, if you want to come back, I’ll cut it some more. Immediately No. I disputed the $90 cut with my bank considering the charge of - $1 per minute (Melanie’s rate.) The bank did not approve the reversal since I did pay Melanie the day of the cut. Lesson learned - if a stylist starts cutting and you can tell they have no regard for the request you have made….run. It’s not rude. Get immediately out of the hair chair or, it’s your own demise.
SalonFour8zero - the energy is snooty, with an underwhelming vibe of egotism. Who cares that you serve beer/wine and Snapple?
If you are looking for an Amazing Stylist and Color Specialist - book with Alex at Taglio Salon on Scottsdale Rd. near Pinó wine bar and the Mesquite Grill or Andrew at Ulta Desert Ridge ($56 dollar cut.) The cut I wanted initially and got with Alex at Taglio was FREE and...
Read moreI waited over a month to write this review as I was too upset. On April 23rd I went to see Vlora for a standard haircut based on all the good reviews. I wanted just a trim on my current style. She suggested doing face framing as well, which I was fine with. During the shampooing I explained to her that my hair had been shedding extra lately and I was concerned about thinning. After she was done with my haircut and I was looking in the mirror I realized she had put her own spin on the face framing she described and instead of my straight across cut with framing blended in, all of my hair was now increasing in length from front to a sharpest point in the back. I do not like this type of style and did not expect this. But this isn't the worst part, she had also texturized, aka THINNED, my hair with shears. As I was sitting in the chair trying not to cry (without saying anything) she says to me "you're coming at me pretty hard right now, we discussed everything I did in the consultation, well, except for the thinning, but you should have STOPPED ME WHEN I BROUGHT OUT THE SHEARS". Are you kidding me?? I had NEVER had my hair thinned before and can't differentiate between different types of scissors?!? What stylist in their right mind thinks it's a great idea to thin out a client's hair WITHOUT TELLING THEM after they express concern about thinning hair?!? This was honestly traumatic and I can't believe Vlora did this to me. And I still tipped 20% due to shock, they honestly should have paid me damages for having to go through this horrible experience. Never in a million years would I recommend this place and especially not this stylist. Am just waiting for hair to grow out now. Literally lost several nights of sleep...
Read moreIt took me awhile to finally share my experience at this salon that occurred awhile ago (2 years ago) because I was so embarrassed, but I want to warn others to save them time, money and emotional distress. I am a natural brunette that for awhile colored my hair copper red. I was seeking a new salon in Scottsdale that could remove the color (color correction) and get me to a very light platinum blonde (high expectations I know lol). 1st session results were awful. The stylist turned me slightly gray with copper red all over costing me $300. But I understood it was a big change and was informed it would take at least 3 sessions. My 2nd session again took hours. And the result was AWFUL. It was literally the same result as the first session. I could not understand what I was paying another $300 for. Again, beige, gray and red all over. ZERO improvement from first session and why was my hair so gray??? Driving home I was so frustrated and wanted to contact the salon immediately (which I did not end up doing and I regret it). Leaving the salon I knew I would never go back and found a new salon. Thankfully I did because I found a GREAT stylist. The new stylist was surprised and told me how poor of a job they did. And one relatively SHORT session later at the new salon the red was OUT and my hair looked BRIGHT blonde while still doing minimal damage. I could not believe it after my disappointing experience at SalonFour8Zero. I now have the bright platinum blonde I desired 👱🏻♀️ And not an overpriced washed out beige gray dull mess. I will try to attach some pictures of my hair after my experience. I hardly took any because my results were...
