Very embarrassing the employee's that work at this station management should review the two men load bags at this train station very disgruntled. They should not be allowed to interact with the public This is photo of the employee who would not give his name and kick me off the train cause he said the bike weighted 65 pounds the bike weight is 47 pounds regardless the bike was loaded on train and 10 mims later this employee came in to lobby and started belittling me and tell me i had an aditude I question him for his first name and he told me he didn't have to get it. I told him I wanted to make a formal complaint aginst his behavior I don't want to ride the train to get my bike off the train. he should be reviewed buy amtrak management and not be allowed to work with the public or loading off passengers formal complaint against employee was not possible cause apparently there was no manager amtrak should do a better job when selecting employees for there Seattle station overall I will fly and not use train services and I would not recommend amtrak to anyone even if they aquire free tickets to ride after the experience with baggage employee ID rather use other transportation services and not recommend amtrak anymore
Policy. The taking of photographs and/or videos is permitted within public access areas on Amtrak property and as otherwise stated in Section III.
Is Amtrak still losing money?
Now, Amtrak continues to rack up big losses that are mostly covered by taxpayers. “Despite being heavily subsidized, Amtrak projects it will lose roughly $1 billion every year and has never in its history...
Read moreIf you’re used to European trains I’d suggest an alternate mode of transit. ^-^ just took train 518 from Seattle to Vancouver BC. The trains are older. The ride itself was fine but there were a plethora of inconveniences:
train departed 20mins late and arrived 1h late. Ran into issues, like waiting for a maintenance crew to clear and for red lights in Vancouver. In Europe there would be compensation for such a delay but I couldn’t find such a policy with Amtrak.
arrived at the station, had to wait 13mins before an attendant unlocked the train doors. They unload baggage before they do people. In Europe you get off the moment the train comes to a halt.
you can “check in luggage”, but for us they unloaded them at the far end of the train, so we were made to walk the length of the platform twice by the time we got to customs
The attendants were kind, but their helpfulness a bit misplaced at times. Announcements would be repeated multiple times, interrupting my time. Canadian customs forms were handed out shortly after leaving Bellingham, when the train was rumbling from traveling fast. I struggled to write legibly. Would’ve made more sense to hand them out as the train was wading through Vancouver stoplights, rather than two hours from arrival.
In the end, I was able to get from point A to point B, but it’s not nearly as comfortable or...
Read moreThe Seattle Amtrak station leaves a little something to be desired in terms of explaining to travelers what the process is to board a train to Canada.
I know the process but hearing people ask over and over then get pissed off throwing things when they find out they need a passport is an unpleasant experience I have had several times.
Also the staff does not start to check passports until late.
My suggestion is that the terminal create a cohesive infographic explaining how we get our passports checked - THEN - we get into line - and THEN we board according to group.
Also a better way of explaining or marking who is priority boarding is needed. I am so tired of watching non-priority folks not pay attention and get to the front of that line then lose their mind.
I have watched the rail staff get treated worse than any flight attendant. It is not their fault and the staffing levels seem limited. Amtrak should invest in better signage full color, correct grammar, somewhere you can’t avoid to make their life easier.
Also with the number of cruise ship passengers on Amtrak during Alaska tour season you should communicate the need to carry your physical passport on the train to the cruise ship lines. I have watched people go pull their luggage out from checked to get their passport which I am sure...
