These dogs on a stick are 👍 great, not perfect. Don’t expect it to be a fast alternative to other places in the area as they make these fresh to order. I can’t think of a time I didn’t have to wait for them to cool down before I could eat.
Over the years they have made minor adjustments to their establishment. For now when you come it, it’s a very small shop with minimal standing / eating room the only place to eat is a medium bar counter along the back wall which is also where the lines spills into when it’s overflowing. They have many ways to order which does help. Especially when you think you have to wait for the main register then walla a random kiosk right by the front door and another by the counter. This does come at a price of service, I feel like I’m in some automated shop with a server that’s just there for backup. The staff is also very young on average.
It’s kind of fun to simply just people watch while you wait on the food. They have a larger cut out window that lets you easily see what’s going on in the kitchen. So many hotdogs. Yes they have expanded their selection over the years and have over a dozen varieties. From pork, chicken pork🙃, and beef. They also have many self serve sauces that are very yummy and even unique for hotdogs.
One thing that threw me off was, they are also the donut shop which I don’t remember also being here. I actually accidentally passed by the shop more than once because I didn’t realize they were also the donut shop. There’s a lot going on in this location so be ready. And be sure to order ahead of time if you don’t want to be awkwardly waiting for 20 minutes in a hit and tiny shop with 8 high school kids, 2 family of 5s, and the few locals trying to just get a...
Read moreEveryday for weeks, my good friend and roommate, Sydney, would not stop talking about wanting a Korean Rice Dog. It got to the point that if she mentioned Korean Rice Dogs one more time, I thought I might combust on the spot. Therefore, one fateful day, we headed to the only spot in Seattle that would properly fulfill her dream of tasting a Rice Dog—Chung Chun in the International District.
Chung Chun is inside a Mochi Donut shop. It’s a small place and occasionally it has a line outside. The inside wasn’t the cleanest, but it’s fine because it’s practically a walk-up window. There is a small counter for eating, but there is only room for 6-8 people. The pricing was affordable.
I firmly believe that Chung Chun is the best rice dog restaurant in Seattle. They fry them fresh, have at least 8 different options, and a wall of sauces to choose from. This is an authentic experience, and isn’t touristy. You can get sugar on your rice dog, which seems more American than Korean, but I’m sure it’s customary.
We all ordered the potato rice dog and they were excellent. Piping hot, just the way mother used to make it. The crunch brought tears to Sydney’s eyes. We all were overjoyed seeing her dreams come true. She described the experience at Chung Chun as heavenly.
I would not eat here often, as my cholesterol would shoot through the roof, but if you’re in the mood for rice dog, this is the place to come! The service was very friendly, and the girl who served us seemed like she genuinely loved working at Chung Chun. She probably knew that she was granting Sydney’s ultimate wish though, and who wouldn’t...
Read moreIt is located right at the international district China town entrance. Wifey and I shared two hotdogs after a light dinner; a sweet potato dog for her and a mozzarella cheese dog for me. Although I heard there was a big hype, we did not have to wait long for ours - only about 10 minutes. It was Monday at 7 PM.
Location is convenient for those who find eateries in China town. ChungChun Hot Dog is Korean street food, so if you are already having Asian food in China town, this would be a tasty dessert. The ambiance is cozy, and there are BTS posters everywhere. The place isn’t prominent, so you might have to wait outside if the wait is long. I hear there could be an hour wait on their busiest night. Pricing is reasonable at around 3-5$ each. Drinks are $1.99 each. The service was fast and friendly.
Took off two stars because, for me, the batter is everything about this. I come here for their special batter, but their hotdogs had less batter than the ones I tried in Korea. I wish their batter is thicker so I can enjoy the chewy batter full in my mouth. The sausage is a cheap quality too. I wouldn’t suggest this place to someone who is actually picky about...
