My teenage daughter is a big fan of the owner's Twitch. She kept telling us that Pink Gorilla is thee place for Animal Crossing fans and that she needed to go. So we did.
That was more than a year ago.
In the time since, we have returned many times, despite the fact that we don't live in Washington! We live in Utah! We still make it a priority every time we visit Seattle.
My daughter was looking for a 3DS so she could hand down some Pokemon games to her brother. Sure enough, they had it. Not only did they sell her a pristine Nintendo 3DS for a fair price, they also heard her mention that the R trigger on her own 3DS was broken - and let her know they could fix it for just $15!!! She was elated. We left her 3DS with them and - even though they said it would probably take 3 days - they had it ready for her the very next day.
Another example of their dedication to gamers: We were visiting friends back in March when the COVID pandemic started. We had planned to be in town when the new Animal Crossing game was released. My daughter pre-ordered it, wanting to support Pink Gorilla with her order. Two days before the game came out, a pretty significant earthquake hit our hometown. We had to leave Seattle and get home immediately. My daughter was stressed from virus fears and not knowing how much damage the earthquake had caused. Not being there for the game release was just one more thing on a heaping pile of bad stuff. Pink Gorilla does not typically ship purchases. They don't have a site set up for that. BUT... They did it for her. She obv didn't get her game on release day, but she got it 3 days later and was able to catch up to her friends quickly.
Thank you, Pink Gorilla! We adore you. We'll be loyal shoppers & Twitch followers til the...
Read moreCame in to do trade ins on some DS games I hadn't played in awhile, and had brought them with me all the way from Virginia, because I know Pink Gorilla's reputation for being exceptional. Also I was planning a vacation out in Washington anyhow, but that's beside the point. I forget the name of the fellow who helped me, but he was thorough and clearly knew what he was doing, while also helping other customers. He made sure I knew it might take some time, and offered to contact me later if I needed to leave, but I didn't have any other plans for awhile, and wanted to browse what I would spend the store credit on anyhow.
Great variety of interesting items, and they make sure to note that the save battery has been replaced in an older game, as expected since one of the owners worked with the Video Game History Foundation.
If I'm ever in Seattle again, I'll be...
Read moreHas a really great and wide selection of games here. I went both to this one and the one in the University District in the span of 2 days, questionable behavior I know but it was absolutely worth it.
These stores are absolutely packed with retro games, reminds me a lot of game stores in Akihabara (but cheaper), not just because of the towers and towers of games, but also because of how many imports they have. Staff were very friendly and pointed out that I was buying the Japanese imports just to make absolutely sure, and overall the prices were pretty good, probably because the games I bought were all in Japanese, but I'd still say it was absolutely worth it.
And yes they sell games in English too, like a lot more games in English than in Japanese, but it's just nice to find this many Japanese...
