This bar has a constant need to kick/not let in people who they determine to be "too drunk" when every time I've seen it happen the persons been less intoxicated then me and half the other people in the bar. What really upsets me is seeing poc get kicked out/not be let in while there's trashed white dudes doing drugs in their bathrooms with no interruptions. Last night my friend who happens to be Hispanic was never given a verbal reason to why he was not allowed into kiwi. Later on in the night he reattempted entering the bar to meet his friends and a different bouncer determined him perfectly sober enough to enjoy so he got his stamp and went in to find his friends but was faced with the original bouncer who once again just told him he needed to leave for no reason. I believe this issue is because of one discriminatory employee/bouncer and not the entire establishment. Though they are part of the problem by letting that bouncer treat people with this type of disrespect with zero explanation just because he can?! My friends and I love hanging out at kangaroo and kiwi but if this unexplained disrespect continues to go on we will 100% be making it known about the type of mistreatment they show their potential...
Read moreThis was an amazing find for dinner. We were looking for food prior to seeing our show at the Tractor Tavern. The night was dark, rainy, and windy. The building was not well lit from the exterior compared to other buildings on the block. We decided to give it a chance. We were not disappointed. Housed in an old library, Kangaroo and Kiwi is a gem of an eatery. When you first enter the building you climb a flight of stairs to enter into the main pub area. We walked past the door to family-friendly seating area on the right. Once seated, there is a QR code for the menu on the table along with your table number. You will need the table number when you order your food up at the bar. We started with the Cheese curds upgraded to Poutine. These were fabulous and could be a meal on their own. The gravy was so rich and flavorful. Our main dishes choice was the Loaded Aussie Meat Pie - Aussie beef pie topped with mashed potatoes, grilled pepper and onions, gravy and bacon. Another favorite. The food was perfect on that cold dreary night. We will be back in...
Read moreThough the guy behind the bar was nice, and the menu looks like it has several good items on it, I won’t ever go back. From the start, when we were offered a whole bottle of champagne we agreed as it was better for the price. But the guy poured the bottle over ice in a pitcher without asking if we’d want it over ice. This is not a place where you are served, you order at the bar, so we were given a pitcher, three stemmed glasses for mimosas, two glasses of juice and a number for our table. It was a lot to carry and when a glass was knocked over and broke because of this, there was no compensation. The whole mimosa experience was just a mess. The eggs on the avocado mash were hard, not properly poached. The crust was stiff on the brekky pie. The flavor was good, but too difficult to eat. They won’t bring you anything beside the food you order, if you want coffee you need to go back in to get it. If you are looking for a beer with friends, this is your place, anything else, go...
