I don't understand how this salon has such good reviews when I got possibly the worst haircut of my life here... I noticed that the price for a haircut ($19) vs. haircut w/ shampoo ($30) had a price difference, so I told the hairdresser that she could wash my hair if she needed. I had product in the hair already, so I expected her to wash it, but she didn't. This made combing through and cutting my hair a bit harder. Her shaving skills weren't bad, so I'm satisfied with the sides and back. But the top?? Just look at the photos. The cut was super choppy, with no technique whatsoever. She didn't trim my hair vertically, but instead cut it horizontally straight across, which makes for a really uneven cut. Why is my front hair two inches longer than the side hair? I have no idea. It looks salvageable when I push my hair up and back a bit, but I can't wear it down at all. I'll need to wait at least another month or two before I can go somewhere else to fix it. The owner/hairdresser is nice and complimented my hair color, but her skills are severely lacking for me to ever consider coming back.

I was looking for a haircut in the morning and just knocked on the door. Kim let me in and asked me to wait until she could set things up as it was 10 minutes before opening time. I just showed her a picture of how short I usually keep my hair and then she did her magic. In less than 10 minutes, I had had a perfect haircut and also talked about so many things, from the current state of affairs to my train travel across the U.S. I definitely recommend her as she is really great at her job.

This hidden hair cut salon is on the 2nd floor, above the psychic fortune teller shop. The door is usually closed so you'll have to knock on the door. Madam Kim will come down and open the door for you. Mens haircut start at $15 Kim does a quality job giving professional haircuts. I keep on coming back because she's super friendly and she cuts my hair how I imagine it to look. Ask her for her opinion and she'll give you her honest opinion on what hairstyle makes you most handsome :D

Basic Cut is a small barbershop located in the International District. It is co-located in a space shared with a gift and stationery shop, Zakka-Ya. If you are coming here on a Monday or Tuesday, you must knock on the door to access the barbershop as Zakka-Ya is not open on those days. This is because Basic Cut is located upstairs within Zakka-Ya.

The barbershop prices are very affordable. I got a men's haircut here for $23 plus tip which is a good deal since I am used to paying $30+ plus tip for a haircut on the Eastside unless I am going to a Great Clips. Note this is a one-person barber so I would suggest coming on a slower day like Monday or Tuesday or scheduling an appointment ahead of time if you don't want to wait. Given the price and the quality of the cut that I received here, I would return to Basic Cut for a...

Totally recommend it! I went to Basic Cut today and had a great experience.

The owner/stylist did a great job cutting my hair and I got the look I wanted. Also, her recommendations on what haircut she would give me were great (I took them).

The salon itself is decorated with a personal touch (like photos of the stylist), all in all it was a soothing and calming experience, I really enjoyed it!

Whenever I visit Seattle again, I will definitely make sure I need a haircut and visit this lovely nice woman at her...
