TLDR: Went to this place with my two friends. The dishes we got usually range around 8-10 dollars. I got Beef Brisket Rice and they gave me a lot of rice. I like the atmosphere. Its a good place for a date or small groups of 2-3. A bit small, so dont bring groups bigger than 6. Not much vegetarian/vegan options. Place is pretty clean. Detailed Review: Based off of Service, Food, Cleanliness, and Ambience Food is rated from 4 levels (Unacceptable (0 stars), Not Good (.5) , Good (1.5), Great (2))
FOOD (Fair/Good: 1.5 out of 2 stars) -The dishes arent too salty. -Good big portions. Felt full after(for at least rice dishes). -Prawn curry isnt as great. Better with meat -Braised Brisket Rice (found under Rice/Spaghetti) was good. Beef wasnt tough and hard to chew. -For the price and what I got. Its good food and I'd come back again
ATMOSPHERE (Good/Fair: .75 out of 1 star) -I like the yellow walls. Its gives a more positive vibe to the place. The restaurant seems much more modern than other ones in Chinatown. -A bit tight and cozy. If its full and there is like 7-10 people waiting for seats. You definitely have to wait outside (not that I mind really)
SERVICE (Good/Fair: .75 out of 1 stars) -Weren't persistent on asking if we are ready to order -Polite -Felt more like sit down, take order, eat, then get bill. --They weren't asking like if we needed anything else or checking us on how our food is. The service was good nonetheless)
CLEANLINESS (Great: 1 out of 1 stars) -In addition to a cozy atmosohere. Its very clean -Made sure that our tables were clean and ready prior to sitting down -No noticeable...
Read moreA+ is probably the best of the "Hong Kong Style" restaurants in the area. HK style is a wonderful mixture of cultural influences from Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the US. Although open for less than two months, A+ is already very popular, especially at lunch time. It is relatively small, but has a huge menu that includes many kinds and combinations of noodles, congees, rice/spaghetti dishes, clay-pot rices, mala tang, and a large selection of desserts and drinks. The portions are huge, and the prices are very reasonable. This may be the best Wonton Noodle Soup in Seattle. It came to the table steaming hot, with a clean and flavorful broth. There was a huge amount of thin noodles cooked to a perfect firm texture. The wontons were huge, with tasty shrimp and pork fillings. The wonton skins were thick like they made them there, and they needed the thickness to hold the huge ball of filling. Very comforting. The Portuguese Style Baked dish comes like a casserole on either rice or spaghetti, with a choice of beef, chicken or fish. I chose chicken. Dark meat chicken, onions and red and green bell peppers are sauteed, sauced, and cover the rice or spaghetti for a quick bake. The sauce is popular in Macau, China. As a Portuguese colony, it's cuisine itself is a cultural blend. The dominant flavor is turmeric. The menu has so many tempting items that it calls out for many...
Read moreBe prepared to butt elbows with other diners as you mop your brow over delicious malatang at A+ Hong Kong Kitchen.
Food: There's a variety of stone pot dishes and cart noodles available here, but by far the most popular dish is the malatang - available in four spice levels and with your choice of protein (or vegetarian), this firey noodle bowl is packed with cabbage, thinly sliced potato, and enticing ribbons of chewy seaweed. Be forewarned that the "hot" level is not to be underestimated, though that doesn't stop authentic diners from heaping additional spoonfuls of chili oil into their bowl!
Ambience: An eclectic mix of orange and black upholstery with orange and turquoise walls. Chinese news and weather plays on multiple TVs on the wall. Seating is very cramped here and you may be asked to dine with another table if you are a solo diner. This is not a good location for groups larger than four.
Price: Great prices across the entire menu. Even seafood items here are relatively cheap.
Service: Decent service but, like most places in the International District, relaxed. Don't be shy about asking for additional napkins or having your...
