Yesler Terrace represent!
Best place close by for a quick bottle of wine, cheese, crackers, some meats. Now serving sandwiches...gotta try these soon!
If unsure, call for hours when early, it's fresh forward and a courtesy philosophy here.
Capitol International Market is truly one of the most well attended neighborhood markets I've ever shopped in. It's a great surprise, a "Seriously?!" kind of appeal.
This market is located adjacent to an Apodments apartments and across the street from juvenile jail, btw. That makes dropping off the kids easy as you and mom grab some snacks, a box of cereal and some wine minis, turning an ordinary Monday evening into something wild and highly recommended. I certainly suggest you get your goods here at Capitol International Market in any event.
I had thought it was a Mexican market for some reason, perhaps it's something to do with the exterior. It caters to many and most provisions within and the prices are competitive, some items fare less and certainly it stands out as a wonderfully decorated, almost Alpine in vibe. A very traveled decor and you'll see such subtle and tedious attention to your patronage as you scour the atmosphere too.
Two things really jumped out at me very noticeably and unexpectantly after the first two visits. One being that this store is probably the most strikingly pristine little market of which I have never seen such attentiveness. Everything is labeled, every individual unit, in fact. No guessing and the rows of goods are ridiculously perfect, organized, inline and matching labels as if there is to be a general inspection of some sorts. That harmoniment is also seen in the string of small flags that decorate the space above and make for some fun eye candy, each a different national flag as you try to remember what you needed to buy or us that only I? You can't help but feel a traveler's bug here amongst the flags, breads, crackers, meats, cheeses, many bottles of wine. You'll find staples such as oats, beans, rice and a small display of fresh, whole fruits, sublime quality and photographically clean. The green apples and orange were delicious from my first walk through. There are also chicken tamales, lean, hearty, generous and very filling too. I understand soon the market will have fresh made sandwiches which I absolutely know are going to be super delicious. That's just the standard which is vastly evidenced here at Capitol International Market.
The second thing that really adds to the shop is the shopkeeper Ben. Ben is a gentleman and his pride as keeper and host makes for a modern yet elevated visit inside. This store is curated excellently and you'll agree, it's a welcome stop in-between downtown and Capital Hill and a mini market with many quality items you wouldn't find in a convenience store for receptions or entertaining at home, such as the cheeses, wines, crackers and meats.
I always look forward to seeing Ben and talking for a moment, he's extremely accommodating and this shop is incredibly fortunate to have his eye on the place as he does it all as a real credit to the ownership! Please stop by and support this market...
Read moreThe Market houses a pleasant selection of quality staples and definitely some deluxe offerings.
You'll find cereals, grains, canned foods, fresh fruits, beverages, pastry and neccessary items too.
The Market deli cases showcase a true spread of artisanal meats and aged cheese. From Smoked Gruyere and Roast Beef to Baby Swiss and Turkey to Sopressetta and Mozzarella there are rotating options to build or customize.
These meats are great to add with your salad, especially on romaine and you'll find some to compliment. They even deli slice thin for sandwiches on Ciabatta roll Made To Order!
Select a bottle of wine and save time on this quaint assortment which is very balanced with just enough play to make yourself happy too or three's a crowd.
Morning coffee station is available. It's dark roast, simple and easy, self~stirred or go lean.
The ownership is truly kind, warm and cordial...extremly caring. I feel loved when I go in and half the time I want to say hello and grace the serenity with my incredible smile and support. I respect this leadership.
Check the hours or call and come advantaged and enjoy this lovely Market and Deli, it's one of the best stops. A sure favorite,...
Read moreThis place is a gem. I live right next to it and come here all the time — it has everything I need, plus a bunch of things I didn’t even know I needed. Super convenient and surprisingly well-stocked for a small store.
But the best part is the owner. She’s genuinely one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. One time I had an emergency and was short a couple dollars for pads, and she just gave them to me — no hesitation, no judgment. I tried to pay her back later, and she refused. She didn’t even know I was a regular back then. That moment really...
