
Yet another hair salon I will likely not go back to. I really wanted to like this one, everything felt right from the vibe to the vision of this place and I had high hopes when I booked my appointment. But I was yet again disappointed. I hate to leave a less than positive review on an inclusive women owned business but the service I received was quite awful. I had booked my first appointment a month before my graduation and many weeks in advance and during that month I was asked to reschedule not once but a total of 4 times. And while I am a (very) understanding person (bcs shit happens and we all need a bit of grace) to be rescheduled that many times is quite problematic and left a very bad impression. I eventually had to switch to a completely different stylist which was a fine experience but felt rushed. I know wavy hair can be ticky to style but I have never left a salon and wanted to wash my hair and style it asap like I did the day of my appointment because the stylist was so rushed and really did an awful job drying my hair (though once I styled the hair at home the haircut was not poorly done). It was clear that she just had to bite the bullet and take me because I was rescheduled to many times. Honestly for what I paid all of this amounted to a very disappointing experience. Revised (cause I wanted to) Long story short - very good experience with booking, very bad experience with cancelation communication, good experience with taking responsibility for the bad experience. I'd already had my hair cut elsewhere by the time of their offer, but I'd be willing to try them again in the future since the curly hair reviews seem great. Was especially impressed with the phone call from Dez, the stylist who had to call out sick. Dez (who still sounded a bit sick when calling me the next day) really listened and was present during our conversation, which is what you ultimately want when someone is cutting your hair, especially for the first time.
I'd suggest a "we give you some small % off your service if we cancel on you and higher % off if within 24 hours" policy since they've upped their cancelation policy to the full amount of the scheduled service if the customer cancels within 24-hours.

I've been a client for 2 years and this week I had to cancel my appointment on the day of my appointment due that I tested positive with COVID and I'm 8 months pregnant which really made me sicker. When I called they said they were going to still charge the 100% service fee. I asked to speak to the manager, and when she called 8 hours later, she laughed at me when I said I was really sick. She even told me that she doesn't have to explain any further regarding the cancellation policy they have. Her name was Alexis and was so rude pretending that she really cared about my situation. I'm never coming back to a place who only cares about money and treat customers SO disrespectful. If they treat customers like this I can only imagine how they treat their employees.
Answer to the owner: I called an hour before to cancel because you were not open. I tested positive for Covid at 7am, called right at 9am( when you were open) and my appointment was at 10am. As a long term client I never had to cancel on the same day until now and this was really out of my control. So please, Alexis don’t make it look like I did this on purpose.
