The staff here are so patient, friendly, and helpful.
The store carries a wide range of products, more than you might assume a local hardware store would, especially when it comes to seasonal products. If they don’t carry the specific product you’re looking for, the staff will recommend potential substitutions and/or tell you where you can buy it. Prices are, for the most part, on par with corporate chains like HD.
Most importantly, the staff are amazing with giving advice or input on whatever project you’re buying supplies for, as well as explaining the pros and cons of different options. They will make sure you feel confident in knowing how to properly use the product(s) you are buying from them. That kind of knowledge and experience, delivered so kindly and patiently, is invaluable. It’s what makes Pacific Supply such an irreplaceable part of our local community!
I’ve been shopping here for many years, and personally I have never felt rushed while shopping here, nor treated as an annoyance for asking an employee detailed questions. I’m sure it happens from time to time, we’re all human, but for the most part the staff seem to be dedicated to making the customer experience positive, and often going above and beyond to accomplish that.
They are also very receptive to feedback, including critical/negative feedback, which is a good indication that the owners/management care about prioritizing customer satisfaction. After all, it’s probably the deciding factor in someone’s decision to shop a local hardware store instead of a chain, and no one at a chain store is going to spend 20 minutes helping you find the best product to fit your exact needs and explaining in detail...
Read moreI’d like to revisit my previous review of this hardware store. Initially, I had a very negative experience, which led me to post a strong critique. My frustrations stemmed from an encounter where the staff couldn’t assist with ordering a part, despite having it on display, and another time when I felt rushed by a cashier who seemed disengaged. At the time, it felt like the store was poorly managed, and I left feeling extremely disappointed.
However, since then, I’ve returned a few more times, and my experience has been significantly better. The store is well-organized and conveniently located, and the staff has shown a much more positive and accommodating attitude. They’ve been helpful, friendly, and seemed genuinely interested in assisting customers. I appreciate the change and wanted to acknowledge it.
While it’s still not as convenient as big-box stores in terms of inventory, it’s definitely less of a hassle for those of us living nearby. Supporting a local business like this is valuable, and I’m glad to see improvements that make it easier to recommend. So, in good faith, I’d suggest giving them a try. It seems they’re working to make the customer experience better, and I...
Read moreTucked into the highly expensive retail sector known as the "Pike/Pine corridor" at 12th Ave on Capitol Hill, Pacific Supply has understandable pricing on most items, and fantastically CHEAP and convenient pricing on the rest. The shelves are stocked tight, with products practically tripping over each other to get into your bag. This hardware has an amazing selection of nuts, bolts, vacuum fittings, things that go in your car, things that go in your lamp, things that go in your wall, things that go on your wall, massive array of all things plumbing, a good paint selection, enough hand tools to get yourself in a little trouble, and some odds and ends. The only thing lacking for a true hardware store is that there are practically no power tools, and that somewhat limits the trouble one can get up to after shopping here. But, there is a soda machine. They also cut keys, and have an overall bias toward "things an apartment manager might buy." It is worth familiarizing yourself with this store if you live nearby. Most of the time, it has what you need, and it usually even has...
