We had a lot of different things at this place, but nothing really was that amazing - everything that we had was around average
Starting with appetizers, I had some of the chili baby corn, palak patta chaat, gol gappa shots, and paneer duo delight Of these, I think I liked the baby corn the best. While it was harder than you would expect, the sweet chili sauce had a ton of flavor in both directions The chaat was fine - pakoras were not good, but the dahi and green chutney made things a bit better The paneer duo delight had a nice spice to it, but the paneer was also harder than I would like the pani puri - ie: gol gappa shots - was immensely bland. there was no spice at all, or any flavor to the water. I think they took the water literally here, because that's pretty much what the liquid tasted like
As far as main courses, we shared the butter chicken, and tandoori chicken tikka, along with a bread basket Note that a bread basket comes with 9 total pieces - which is a lot. This includes 3 butter naan's, 3 bullet naan's, and 3 garlic naans. The naan itself was fine - soft enough, but I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the garlic and butter naan's. There just wasn't much garlic flavor at all on the garlic naan. The bullet naan did have some points of being spicy at least
The butter chicken was quite bland. There was no sense of depth in flavor from sauce, and it just tasted like very basic tomatoes with too much cream. Nowhere close to enough spices were put in the dish. The tandoori chicken was probably my favorite - it had a deep red color, and actually had some flavor to the outside - it seemed to have been marinated and cooked well. Another nice thing was in both - the chicken was very juicy.
The price is quite expensive. It came out to $50 per person for the overall meal, for this food and a drink. None of the individual curries are too outrageous, but some of the appetizer prices are a bit questionable. The portion size with the curry + rice is decent enough though, I wouldn't recommend ordering extra naan if you come here
Overall, it's not bad, but there are so many other flavorful spots in this area of Capitol Hill that you really shouldn't be stopping by...
Read moreI might be a Karen for Indian food. So I’m so glad to say that M&M has simply surpassed my expectations.
Woah! The flavor is absolutely delicious. The Chili Garlic Paneer is a solid 10/10. It actually transported me back to India with the first bite. The Rice Kheer had less flavor. It didn’t have that punch. It was more of a lightly flavored rice. The rice was chewy, and I wouldn’t expect chewy rice in kheer. No no. I was rather expecting it to melt in my mouth, especially after eating the real spice level 4 food, which I so, so appreciate. (Please keep it as-is forever. You are giving us the actual spice levels) Most desserts are soft. Once that is fixed, I think it’s all set. (Although I prefer a slightly sweeter kheer, I’m amortizing the sweetness factor.)
Now coming to the Hakka Noodles (Veg). Top class. The flavor, the softness of the veggies (although I would expect more veggies in a veggie dish. If you can increase it, pretty please!), the stir-fried feel in those noodles, everything was so mouthwatering. I wasn’t eating the noodles, I was devouring them.
The portion size of both Hakka Noodles (Veg) and Chili Garlic Paneer is perfect.
And imagine, this was such high quality for a delivery order. Imagine how good it will be in-store. I’m definitely coming there both solo and with friends to eat in person and spread the word. Heard your drinks are too good 😉!
But please keep the spice level, flavor, and everything consistent from here on.
Update on Dine in experience: got lassi, kurkuri bhindi, gulab Jamun, palak paneer, garlic nann, gobi Manchurian, mango lassi amd papaya blueberry mocktail.
Lassi was room temperature on a hot day (disappointed), kurkuri bhindi was salty( disappointed), papaya blueberry mocktail was sugary(disappointed), palak paneer wasn’t flavorful. (Disappointed)...
Read moreIm puzzled as to how this establishment has a near perfect rating considering my experience here. Several factors need improvement, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend.
Pros: garlic naan and samosas - Both were very flavorful, fresh, and had a great balance of softness and crunchiness. However, it was $10 (including service fee) for only two samosas. atmosphere - Good music was playing and overall, the environment had a pleasing appearance.
Cons: chicken tikka masala - Had incredibly large chunks of bell pepper and ONLY 3 PIECES of chicken. The chicken itself was very tough and had an unappetizing texture. The flavor was also oddly sweet. There also was not nearly enough right for the both of us. service - While the waiter was nice, he failed to do a good job of keeping an eye on myself and my friend, as well as the only other two people in the entire restaurant. There were two employees literally standing around on their phones, meanwhile we were out of water and soda for almost the entirety of being there. We were out of water for 30 minutes before having to directly ask for it, which is something I’ve never experienced at a restaurant before. Additionally, the waiter was staring at the payment device as I was choosing a tip, which was very uncomfortable and just unprofessional. Give some privacy, please. prices - They charge a 10% service fee ON TOP OF the existing prices of the menu. This does not count as a tip, as it goes entirely to the establishment. The prices were fair, but considering the quality of the entree and already paying $18.99. If you’re going to up charge the existing prices by 10%, just include the 10% in the menu pricing! It’s ridiculous...
