I am utterly disappointed and frustrated. If I could I would give them ZERO stars. This place does not deserve even a fraction of a star. Working at Harborview and not having a lot of time to go out for lunch, I decided to order delivery through grub hub. I placed very specific instructions on how spicy I wanted the pad Thai tofu and papaya salad to be. In the comments section I asked that if their highest level of spiciness was 5 Star I would like it to be 20 star because I love spicy food and have a very high tolerance of eating spicy food which leaves me with no tastebuds because of it. The person who saw the online order even called me before making my food and asked if thatās what I really want to be that spicy. I said yes. I love my food spicy which is why I asked for 20 stars. The person from Bai Tong acknowledged it and said ok I will put Thai spicy for you and include extra hot peppers on the side, which was a small container of rooster sauce and a small container of dried chili flakes. I said ok thatās fine. When the food was delivered there was about 1 star for both dishes which amounted to $25 of which $2.99 was the delivery fee. If Iām spending over $10 an order on lunch I should be getting what I want and this was not the case. I called the establishment and said this is nowhere close to the level of spiciness I wanted and asked how does someone get the spiciness level they want. The girl who talked to me before answered the phone when I called and told me that I should have asked the dishes to be made with Thai chili peppers instead and ask for a side of fish sauce and the cut up peppers. Iām like ok well how long until you get someone here to deliver that to me. She said she canāt because there isnāt anything like that on the menu where she can send a delivery person to deliver to me. First and last time for me in this establishment. Such a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been to the normal Bai Tong many times, and have enjoyed each of my visits, so was interested to check this place out As the name suggests, it has a lot more 'street food' type dishes that you won't find at the normal place
I opted for the Basil Pork Belly over Rice, which I very much doubt is often ordered as a street food, but it seemed like a good option Firstly, the presentation on this dish was wild. It was brought out in a sizzling cast iron pan, with the pork, rice and vegetables. Then, an egg was cracked directly onto the pan, allowing it to cook while hissing with steam and crackling of oil throughout. This was really cool, and not something you see often
Unfortunately, the presentation ended up being the best part of this dish. After mixing everything together, I thought the basil flavor was pretty lacking. The egg ended up combining nicely with most of the rice, and the veggies were nice, but the pork belly was quite dry. I don't know how they managed to have pork belly be that flavorless, when it has so much inherent fat, but it wasn't enjoyable At least the spice was good. I asked for four-star, and they certainly delivered - the food was quite spicy
It was on the more expensive side, coming to about 25 for the meal. the portion size was a little smaller than i expected
Overall, it's not terrible, but the real Bai Tong is way better in my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ordered some takeaway from Bai Tong - it's a frequent restaurant we order from for our company. I got the beef salad. Simple enough, right?
While eating it, I bit into a large (over 1-inch) long shard of very hard plastic, that had sharp ends. I've added the picture here. I was lucky that the way I bit into it resulted in me catching it before it went far into my mouth, but the plastic is certainly hard and sharp enough to do damage. This was a pretty bad error on the restaurant's behalf -- but that's not enough to earn a 1-star rating in my book.
What really made this worse is the lack of response. I notified the restaurant the same evening through their website. I left my phone number in case they wanted to discuss it. I wanted to make sure this was a one-off occurrence and wouldn't be an issue before. I think they'd be interested in this issue, to prevent large shards of hard, sharp plastic ending up in other customers' dishes. They didn't reply.
A week later, I e-mailed the restaurant directly. Still no reply. So now, here I am on Google Reviews, trying to get the word out. Bai Tong doesn't seem to care that plastic shards end up in their food - their lack of any sort of follow-up seems to confirm it.
The food isn't good enough to make up for this complete lack of customer service, and the risk involved with...
