I recently visited The Refind Closet and felt compelled to share my experience. Unfortunately, I encountered some aspects that left me deeply disappointed, overwhelmed and uncomfortable.
The customer service at Refine Closet fell short of expectations. I observed instances where customers were treated differently based on their racial background. It's disheartening to witness such behavior, as customer service should be inclusive and welcoming to everyone. When arriving, the door was gated and locked. I can tell from the sales associates Faces that they hesitated to open the door when they saw A BLACK MAN.
The overall atmosphere in the store seemed unwelcoming. I couldn't help but notice subtle signs of racial bias, which made me feel uncomfortable during my visit. The sale associate checked on me about 20x. I couldn't even look around in peace. It felt a bit forceful. I shouldn't have to feel like I'm walking on eggshells when trying to purchase a gift for my mom.
While Refine has a decent selection of products, the experience was overshadowed by the discriminatory atmosphere. It's crucial for businesses to create an environment where all customers feel valued and respected. Being that I was trying to support a local business during the holiday.
I believe that addressing these issues head-on and implementing diversity and inclusion training for staff members would greatly benefit. It's essential to create an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome, regardless of their background.
In a world that strives for inclusivity, it's disheartening to encounter instances of discrimination. I hope that The Refine Closet takes steps to address these concerns and create a more positive and inclusive environment for all...
Read moreI have to start this review with a shout out to whomever is doing their hiring...Every single encounter with any employee, whether it's been in the store, consigning a piece, DMing on Instagram, on the phone, across the board, every touch point has been exceptional customer service.
I live in Seattle, so I'm able to pop in the store and do, whenever I'm in the area. I don't dress up when i go out, I don't carry expensive bags, I don't wear obvious designer clothes and I drive an old truck. Shopping the luxury market anywhere in the world, I will be "greeted" with the-up-and-down what-are-you-doing-in-here glare which i find equally annoying and hilarious. The Refind is the exception. They are all so down to earth, smart, helpful and excited about helping me.
I currently own a high end men's lifestyle brand, and I had a high end store in University Village for 15 years so I know both sides of luxury retail. I say that because the pricing at The Refind is exceptional. I "shop" every day and know fabrics, construction and pricing. The Refind consistently has "excellent" to "pristine" pieces priced to sell. They do have an occasional "good" condition item at which point they'll price it "as is" and it's a steal at that point.
Bravo The Refind, you're killing it and it's so fun to watch a woman owned and operated business thriving. In a world where getting AI generated letters from businesses, the personal, caring attention I receive at The Refind is a breath of fresh...
Read moreThe lack of (or non existing) laws & regulations in the states around luxury resell business’, it’s always a good idea to be knowledgeable & informed about counterfeit products, as it’s a multi-billion dollar industry just in North America alone. I had to bring back a top that was sold to me (I recognize it was fake but also photos were sent to me by my SA from direct retailer in New York for confirmation). When watching their Live on Instagram, they self admittedly do not authenticate (unless they can provide entropy on bags & very limited jewelry items only in recent months)… in addition, the response I received when returning my top, it gave me further disdain to their business practice. Even thought there are no real guarantees nor methods of authentication process, the intake team at Refind has no real basic knowledge of products & pricing from countless examples many of us (community of former regular customers) has seen. Consumers need to be knowledge about when buying items that are hundred & thousands of dollars, and/or often can be even...
