U.S. Coast Guard Base Seattle — Local services in Seattle

Sunday, July 6th 2025. The security guard working the main gate was extremely unprofessional and rude. She did not greet us and immediately harassed my husband about not seeing the stop sign. My husband is active duty Army and a Coast Guard veteran previously stationed in Seattle. He informed her we were checking out the base and going to the exchange. She was very rude and told him we aren't allowed to look around the base and told him we had 30 minutes at the exchange. She kept questioning us about why we were there even after we told her. We all had our military IDs on us as well. As we were leaving the base 21 minutes later she stated "that was a lot longer than 30 minutes." My husband informed her of the time we entered the base and the current time and she continued to be rude until my husband did the math for her. It was very disheartening to return after 11 years and be treated like garbage. Our youngest child was scared and our oldest was very disappointed in the visit to the base. This was one of the things they were looking forward to on this trip. I sure hope this individual is disciplined appropriately and finds a new job that does not involve working...

On Sunday, May 25, 2025, at approximately 10:30 AM, I had an unacceptable encounter with the security officer at the main gate. From the outset, her confrontational attitude was apparent as she offered no greeting. Instead, she immediately accused me, stating, “Do you realize you didn’t do a full stop at the entrance stop sign?” It’s crucial to highlight that this stop sign lacked any traffic or flashing lights, and my speed was well below 3 mph. Had to get a new CAC here. Like others, parking is horrible. You can't find a spot and will have to wait until someone leaves. Plan accordingly if you need to make any type of appointment here.
