We got there at 6:20 on a Wednesday to get dinner before a concert at 8PM at WaMu theater. We were told 25-30 minutes for a party of two. We got beers while we waited, which were good. About 35 minutes after being put on the list two spots opened up at the bar so we sat down, thinking we could order food. Twenty minutes went by and the bartenders literally did not even make eye contact with us once, much less take our order. I finally asked one of them as they were passing by if I could close out for my two drinks from earlier.
At this point it had been nearly an hour since we first got there so I went back up to the front and was told that we were “next on the list”. We sat back down at our seats at the bar to wait, another ten minutes goes by and I’m seeing people getting seated, I go back to the front and I’m told that our table is actually ready! Great! We were ready with our orders and planned on ordering and asking for the check at the same time because it was nearly 7:30 at this point.
We sit down and five minutes goes by without any waitstaff even coming to the table. I see where this is going— we’re definitely going to miss the concert if we stay and eat at this rate. So we told the front we were leaving. It was about 70 minutes since we first got on the list. Unfortunately we were both super hungry at this point but had no other options since the concert was getting close to starting. We ended up eating $15 chicken tenders at the concert venue, which actually were surprisingly delicious.
Ironically I heard the hostess tell another party that it would be “25-30 minutes” as we were leaving. I understand that they are busy and short staffed like everywhere else in the world at this moment. But honesty would’ve gone a long way— had I known it would be an hour before we were seated we could’ve gone somewhere else. They need to hire more staff or be more transparent with how...
Read moreWe were at Hatback the night of an out of town Mariners game. The Mariners were playing the Yankees (this will be important). The staff was immediately super friendly and helpful. They sat us immediately. I had a 16 and 14 year old with me. We were sat bar adjacent. We got water immediately and our drink orders were taken and brought to the table quickly. We ordered the pretzel, which was so freaking delicious. It was soft and flavorful and the mustard sauce it comes with is delicious. We got a pulled pork sandwich, and it was just ok. The 14 year old who ordered it hated it. The "coleslaw" on the sandwich was very sad. It was basically purple with vinegar. The bbq sauce was too sweet. The avocado bacon burger was "alright" according to the 16 year old boy with a hollow leg. He didn't even finish it and wasn't excited about finishing it when I made him eat it for lunch the next day, I think that speaks volumes. I got the Diavolo pizza. It was good. The ingredients were good quality. It was spicy, but not extremely spicy. I am made of asbestos though, so don't even try if black pepper is usually too much for you. The restaurant itself is very nice. There are sports ball TVs all over the place. Wood. Varnish. Very masculine. If you'll recall we were there during the Mariners away game v the Yankees. There was a Yankees fan in the bar portion being a whole red flag. Pacing, yelling, randomly screeching BING BONG at the top of his lungs. Basically being disruptive. He was never asked to leave. I found that odd. The staff was the only reason...
Read moreI'm a loyal Mariners fan and always went to Pyramid before games. I've been to the Hatback Grill twice since it's opened (beer garden + sitting inside) and both were a complete bust. First the beer garden: They have this terrible ticket system that requires you to wait in not 1, but 2 lines for a beer. First you gotta guess how many drinks you'll have, buy that many tickets, then go get in another line to give your ticket to the bartender. Oh and they BOTH ask for tips. The first time we went we ended up with extra tickets that you cannot reuse at other games they told us. So you basically just throw money away. The second time we bought 1 ticket each, wanted another beer but didn't want to wait in two lines again so we just left. I would have stayed and bought more beer if it wasn't for these dumb tickets. They also got rid of the yard games. There's no exit which is bizarre, you have to push your way through the giant ticket line to go back out the entrance. The ticket line just clogs the entire entrance it's terrible. Who does operations for this place? Pyramid used to run happy hour beer specials in the beer garden on game day, where's that???? They also had ladies nights before games with discounted beer, also gone. Save yourself the hassle and just go to the 'Pen before the game. The prices are the same, but at least it's more convenient and also...
