Read moreI'm only giving it one star because there is no option for zero stars. This is an annual stop for us on our way to Florida. Stopped there about 10 minutes ago. Not only do they make no mention on their website that it is ONLY cigars and cigarettes with not more store; I walked into a complete disgrace of an employee screaming at a customer who was standing by the bathrooms with his young son. Apparently, the customer was waiting for his wife to get out of the bathroom. The employee was being accusatory, rude, and LOUD with the gentleman. Accusing him of moving an "Out of Order" sign. The gentleman explained that he was waiting for his wife to get out of the bathroom. The employee said "There was a sign there for a reason. If the toilet floods the maintenance man would have been working for hours for nothing." The customer kept repeating "I'm just waiting for my wife man. I didn't see or move a sign." The employee continued screaming. What was worse, was that the store manager (a grey haired man with glasses) was standing there the ENTIRE time. Not once did he tell his employee to apologize. When the wife came out of the bathroom and asked what was going on and why there was screaming the manager completed disregarded her.
Needless to say, this will be our last stop at J&R Cigar. It's not worth the price of the cheap knock off cigars to witness a family being verbally attacked...
Read moreWhat sucks: since 2023 they have changed their online operation to the detriment of their customers. -Their points program now expires after 90 days... -- You can't use your points in conjunction with the first responder/military discount - I agree that stacking multiple coupon codes should not allowed, but using the points earned is not a coupon code. The price of the cigar of the month club went way up for way less value. -They dumped their premium membership option (it has since been brought back - though with 230% increase). Price shenanigans - if you select an item that is on sale, then sign in to your account with first responder/military discount (again a benefit that is proudly marketed) the sale price disappears and the item goes to full price with the first responder/military discount.
I had been a loyal and boastful customer, referring many of my buddies to their website. I was stationed in NC while in the military and was close to the store. When I transferred I used their website almost exclusively. Cigar of the month, preferred membership (paid) etc. With the changes they have made I have stopped shopping there completely. I still spend more than my wife would like on cigars, but I prefer to spend my $$$ where at least I feel like a valued customer, not one that every corner has been cut to devalue the experience. ...
