whom ever that stupid chic was that said they are only good for cheap ciggs is an idiot of the worst kind... go back and crawl under the rock you crawled out from under!!!! my entire family loves jrs we come down every year and i am talking more than 120 to 150 people ..we spent thousands and thousands of dollars here and now i hear they are closing in november!!! new owners!!! ohh wait they are going to keep the stupid cigar part going..who cares if i want a good cigar i will go to cuba..and ciggs i will pay the extra 5 bucks a carton at a mom and pop store... you new owners suck big time...ruining traditions that every one not just from the east coast but the entire country knows jrs and we go out of our way just to come to jrs.. its not just a store its a destination a family tradition.. we go 80 miles out of our way to go there...we have made so many new friends at jrs.. the staff there has always been top notch.. keep the damn retail open will ya!!! i am a combat vet and there are thousands and tens of thousands of military that go there and its not for the cigars!!!!! we will not go there and i will spread this around if you close the retail part...how many wonderful north carolinians are you kicking to the curb.. do you realize how many millions of dollars you are going to cost that community if you close the retail part... my friends stop there to shop at jrs then stay the nite at local motels and hotels get gas ,frequent local pubs and restaurants etc, etc. i give it 5 stars from the past the staff there earned those 5 stars and prev owners.. you will have to earn it and you know how fast things spread...

I'm only giving it one star because there is no option for zero stars. This is an annual stop for us on our way to Florida. Stopped there about 10 minutes ago. Not only do they make no mention on their website that it is ONLY cigars and cigarettes with not more store; I walked into a complete disgrace of an employee screaming at a customer who was standing by the bathrooms with his young son. Apparently, the customer was waiting for his wife to get out of the bathroom. The employee was being accusatory, rude, and LOUD with the gentleman. Accusing him of moving an "Out of Order" sign. The gentleman explained that he was waiting for his wife to get out of the bathroom. The employee said "There was a sign there for a reason. If the toilet floods the maintenance man would have been working for hours for nothing." The customer kept repeating "I'm just waiting for my wife man. I didn't see or move a sign." The employee continued screaming. What was worse, was that the store manager (a grey haired man with glasses) was standing there the ENTIRE time. Not once did he tell his employee to apologize. When the wife came out of the bathroom and asked what was going on and why there was screaming the manager completed disregarded her.

Needless to say, this will be our last stop at J&R Cigar. It's not worth the price of the cheap knock off cigars to witness a family being verbally attacked...

What sucks: since 2023 they have changed their online operation to the detriment of their customers. -Their points program now expires after 90 days... -- You can't use your points in conjunction with the first responder/military discount - I agree that stacking multiple coupon codes should not allowed, but using the points earned is not a coupon code. The price of the cigar of the month club went way up for way less value. -They dumped their premium membership option (it has since been brought back - though with 230% increase). Price shenanigans - if you select an item that is on sale, then sign in to your account with first responder/military discount (again a benefit that is proudly marketed) the sale price disappears and the item goes to full price with the first responder/military discount.

I had been a loyal and boastful customer, referring many of my buddies to their website. I was stationed in NC while in the military and was close to the store. When I transferred I used their website almost exclusively. Cigar of the month, preferred membership (paid) etc. With the changes they have made I have stopped shopping there completely. I still spend more than my wife would like on cigars, but I prefer to spend my $$$ where at least I feel like a valued customer, not one that every corner has been cut to devalue the experience. ...

This place is nice, easy to get to from the highway, even with a semi plus trailer. Once you turn down the road, read the signs ... take the 3rd entrance and drive to the back of the building. Plenty of space to maneuver and park. A short walk to the front of the store, plus I saw other stores ... not sure if we're allowed to spend the night, but if we are, there looks like a nice food place in the center as well. I just became a "regular" cigar smoker this summer, I've the person who'll smoke a stick once in a great while. It's a great relaxation aide. I ordered from the JR website a few weeks ago and was very happy with the savings, but since I was passing this one, decided to stop in and talk to real people. Nice people. Friendly. Knowledgeable. Bigger savings are online, but it was nice to walk through the huge humidor of various cigars, smell the smells, and see so many variations! I told the salesman I like assortments. He found a great suggestion ... spend so much and get a prefilled assortment bag at a great price, more than half off. They close at 6pm; I arrived at 4:50, but didn't feel rushed at all, but didn't wanna take too long as my truck clock was low. The next time I come, I'll look at all the other products they have. I saw some beautiful humidors. I have a nice one, but have a feeling I'll need more.

Ok to the people who say the place smells like smoke. Yes yes it does. Why? Because in this day and age you can actually still smoke inside here. If you're a cigar smoker there are few places left you can actually smoke a cigar inside or outside for that manner. So if you are complaining that it smells like smoke you must NOT be a smoker so .... Now for pricing. All cigars are priced by the stick at just slightly below MSRP. Box pricing is discounted. And if your like me only shopping their closeout shelf just picked up a box of undercrown 10 factory floor box of 20 for $132.30 before tax. That is $139.70 less than 20 cigars at the MSRP of $13.60 a stick. Just remember all things are relative.

A cornucopia of cigars, pipe tobacco, cigarettes and accessories. They have downsized quite a bit since my last visit a few years ago, but they still have an amazing selection of fine cigars. Very reasonable prices on all brands and their JR label cigars. They also have ultra premium cigars in a special walk in humador. With the downsize they kept the selection and now feature a spacious smoking lounge. Definitely worth the stop.
