This is the second La Quinta we have stayed in and are very happy. The room was spotless, the sheets were clean and fresh. No problems with parking. Thankfully they had plenty of spots for disabled folks. The attendant behind the desk was very nice, he smiled and had a good personality. He even told me about military discounts. Very happy with that. The lobby was spotless as was the dining area. The pool was open and looked inviting. Breakfast was very good, but I would have liked to see some bacon or sausage. The woman doing the cleaning in the breakfast area wasn’t as cheerful. She didn’t look at anyone or speak unless someone asked a question. And she seemed to get a bit angry when someone made a mess, even before they had a chance to pickup their mess. But, she kept most things filled. She kept busy as there were a lot of people eating. When I was about o check out, she was expressing her displeasure for the mess, to the woman behind the counter. I had to wait until she was done venting. After she left, the woman behind the counter smiled and asked if we enjoyed our stay. I told her yes. She was very friendly with a great attitude. Will we stay at La Quinta again? Yes! Most definitely. We like the fact they allow pets but one thing they need to enforce is pet owners cleaning up after their pets. There was a lot of poop where we were allowed to walk our pets. Another thing in the grassy areas by the entrance is the areas should be watered in every day. The pet urine smell is very strong. Other than that, everything was great.

This was a great place to stay for a weekend reset. My husband and I stay at hotels all across the country; however, neither of us had ever experienced the comfort of a La Quinta Inn and Suites by Wyndham. When we walked in, the place looked very modern. The yellow chairs they had strategically placed really made the room pop! We checked in around 3:30 p.m. The moment I walked in, I thought, "Wow! This place is nice." I told the guy at the front desk, but he didn’t even acknowledge me. A smile and a nod would have been enough, but all I got was a dead-faced look. They were doing a lot of upgrades because when we got off on our floor, there were tons of new air conditioning systems waiting to be installed outside of the elevator. Out with the old, in with the new. They had an outdoor pool and plenty of places to relax; they even provided breakfast in the morning. They provided us with enough towels for at least a two-day stay, which was fantastic since we usually stay for a minimum of two days. They had a pretty decent-sized gym, but it would have been nice if they had more gym equipment, like additional free weights. We saw only one set of weights, and they weighed about 25 pounds. But we did get a really nice workout. We bring our own workout equipment to gyms with limited options like this one. Overall, we enjoyed our stay; the place was beautifully modern, the service was great with the exception of the dead-faced guy at the front desk, and we would definitely stay again.

We stopped late at night on our way through to another city. I had asked for a military rate, as it’s a major reason why we’ve always stayed at La Quinta throughout the years. I was told they didn’t offer it, though I showed them on the app on the rate I had opened. She said she couldn’t offer it there, so I stood in the lobby and booked the rate right there. Took about ten minutes for it to reflect so we could check in. Kind of dumb to have to do that, but whatever. The hotel lobby was clean. The room was clean-ish. It had been updated with newer furniture, light fixtures, etc, but the walls and finer details were still dingy. The mattresses were old spring-style on top of metal platforms that weren’t super comfortable. Also the furniture hadn’t been wiped down because the drink rings from previous guests were still there. The most annoying part was the underlying smell of bug spray in the room. We dealt with it because we already paid and had planned on leaving early to continue on. Breakfast area was clean, food was hot and consistent with La Quinta. Not the greatest stay, but not the worst, either.

I stayed overnight at this hotel with my family in September 2020. My family (not myself) had stayed here before it became a Ramada when it was the Hampton Inn and had a great experience so they decided to book a room there again. Personally, it was one of the worst hotels I have had the opportunity to stay at.

Upon check in we went into the room and my first impression was the MOLD in the bathroom. There was no fan in there and the mold was building up where the ceiling met the walls, as well as on the floor near the tub. In all, the whole bathroom was not well done/put together and other than the mold, I chalked it up to the fact the hotel was under construction and would probably look better down the line.

Additionally, we had requested a non-smoking room but the room smelled strongly of cigarettes.

Upon going to place items in the room fridge, we discovered past guests food/drinks still in there which clearly indicates that the rooms were not cleaned well. Which considering this stay was during the COVID pandemic you would want to hope that the room was cleaned properly.

The hotel has a pool but it was not open at the time of our stay (which was fine, I was not planning to use it anyway), however you could tell walking past it was not taken care of. The pool lights were on and the furniture was out, but the pool was about 3/4 of the way full and a green color filled with leaves and trash so it was clearly unkept even if not in use.

Before getting into the details of after our stay there, I would not recommend staying at this hotel unless they do a significantly better job with cleaning the rooms and taking care of the property.

About a week after checking out, I realized I had (stupidly) left my Apple Watch behind in the room. We reached out to the hotel and they stated they didn't find anything in the room. But on our way back to NY we stopped at the hotel to check in person just in case. Upon walking into the hotel I was rudely spoken to by the front desk staff and was told that seeing as the room had been cleaned "several times" since our stay it would have been found if it were still there. Which is frustrating to be told especially considering the mold in the bathroom and the old food found in the fridge when we checked in. Also, I knew the watch was still in the room for at least 3 days after we had checked out (as I had tracked it), meaning that the room was not cleaned well enough to have found the watch for at least that amount of time. Beside the rude front desk staff, losing the watch was entirely my fault so I was done with it and just told myself to take better care of personal belongings when traveling.

Then two weeks later, one of the emergency contacts listed on my watch got a text message from someone claiming "her mother" worked as a cleaner at this hotel and had found the watch and brought it home with her. At this point, my mother (who had the contact information of the General Manager, Kimberly, because we had already spoken to someone about the poor state of the room) decided to email Kimberly herself.

From my understanding, Kimberly was very kind and apologetic about the situation and the rude staff, and was initially very helpful about what potentially could have been an employee taking lost items from rooms. After investigating herself and then stating she was going to speak with corporate about this situation she stopped responding and we never found out the outcome, or if it were in fact an employee who took the watch from the room.

If you do decide to stay at this hotel and can look past the poorly cleaned rooms, be sure to double check for all your belongings before checking out as you might not...

UPDATE *No longer a Ramada. They have finished with the remodeling.

Upon entering the Ramada parking lot, we thought maybe there had been a mistake and that the place was closed. It looked deserted and hard tarp/plastic coverings all over the building roof and construction work going on. We had trouble figuring out how to get inside for check in due to no signage alerting people whether to go in the front door or some other entrance, and yellow caution tape blocking the area. They are in the middle of a huge renovation that was not listed on the Expedia site at time of reservation.

That being said... the lady at the front desk was nice. This was the first time we were told a cash deposit was required at check in. No credit card deposit. Cash. That threw us off a bit because we rarely carry cash anymore, but happened to have some on us this day. I would hate to have to drive all over town looking for an atm.

The hotel site on Expedia says they offer breakfast. It wasn't updated to alert people that breakfast is in fact not offered at this time, supposedly due to being renovated. Not even a packaged breakfast like some others offer.

The room is comfortable enough. It was clean and roomy. The tv looks like a 32" flat screen. I needed captions and it didn't seem to have any. The remote didn't have a closed caption (cc) button and we couldn't find it in the settings either. So I had trouble enjoying the tv. Other people may not need captions, but I did. The room has a nice size refrigerator and coffee maker, but no microwave. The bathroom was comfortable and had soaps, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and plenty of towels. The shower was nice. There is a workout room with equipment. I didn't get my workout this visit because I overslept. The bed was comfortable enough. I enjoyed the comforter, it was good for snuggling under.

This hotel is close to the shopping outlets and plenty of restaurants in Smithfield. Also, not too far from Hinnant Family Vineyards. I like their slushies and their wine.

Checkout person the next day was a big hassle. She was rude and unprofessional in so very many ways. Don't these people realize when someone is checking out you are giving them their last impression of the place as they are leaving? Why would anyone want a customer leaving their business with a bad taste in their mouth? It sours the whole experience.

I am sure once the whole renovation is complete that things will be...

Called less then an hour out since there was not many rooms available and they held it for us for a full hour just incase we needed a couple more min, which we did. Room 314 The night crew was so nice and helpful, even let us use a microwave since our room didn't have one. There were luggage carts as soon as you walked in. The place was remodeled and absoluty beautiful and so fun to look at. There was a little store with some food options, snacks and drinks. It was pet friendly so you did hear some dogs barking but for the most part everyone was quite during our stay. The walls are kind of thin but I didn't really hear anyone. Only once was someone loud in the hall but quickly quieted once they realized how loud they were. Very short walk to the elevators from the desk and to our room. The room has tap keys and the door was secure. The whole room was also VERY clean. Even behind furniture and in corners. Lighting was also cool and adjustable. Pillows were comfy and so was the bed. Only thing is the bed was kind of noisy. I didn't mind but I know others might. The AC was kicking and the mini fridge worked perfectly. The room was also very nicely decorated with neat pictures, mirrors and a large TV. Bathroom was very clean and so were the towels. Tissues manipulated into a cute shape with toiletries neatly arranged. Lighting was also great. Plenty of hot water and space in the walk in shower. Only thing was the sliding glass door wouldn't stay shut so I put a washcloth gently in between the two doors to force it to stay shut. I let them know in the morning when we checked out and they seemed happy to know of the problem so they could fix it but apologized for our inconvenience. There was a coffee maker with supplies and your usual closet findings. Plenty of room to move around as well. Breakfast starts at 6am and included dry/baked goods, apples, yogurt, cereal, juice, eggs, bacon, sausages and a few other items. Plenty a seating of different styles and a super sweet attendant though I took my things up to my room. Check out was a breeze with Monica in the morning and we also had no problem with parking. I forgot to get the rest of the employees names but it was a Tuesday night 11/28/22 This will def be one of our routine stops on the way down to FL. Thank you LA...
