Me and my Fiancé first time ever going to a food establishment like Old North State Food Hall
We walked around to observe everything that North State Food Hall have to offer so we decided to go to Fuku Chicken which was truly amazing I ordered Sweet + Spicy Impossible Nuggies ( it's a meal that comes with Waffle French Fries ) I have ate plenty of waffle French fries. But these was different it was some type of seasoning that had on it that made it 100% AMAZING It's just not about the seasoning on it, it's how it was cooked carefully like it's definitely the best French fries me and my fiancé have ever ate!
The Chicken nuggets was so crisp and soft like it was cooked to perfection the sauce ( Sweet and Spicy ) was like made from heaven I can't express how great this food was my fiancé ordered the same thing but without the sweet and spicy sauce She also loved it!
So we also went to order some ice cream which was amazing and lovely ! Good thing about this place is whenever you order any food from any of the places inside they give you a pager that will (Beep, Vibrate, Make Loud Noise) to let you know your order is ready to pick up which is amazing! great idea!
So we also went to Barley And Burger Smashed and the burger is soooo amazing there isn't any amount of words that can express the flavor and TOUCH that went into the burger it was delicious I couldn't be more EXCITED to go back and try out different burgers and everything else they have to offer!
Now it's time for two issues, around the whole place there are different seats and a lot of them are plastic hard chairs and my fiancé didn't feel to comfortable sitting in them because it was a little wobbly and was hard to sit in they do have like huge lounge chairs? that is in front of the windows and it have cushions and it was a lot more comfortable I would like to see a little bit more comfortable chairs like the ones near the window for customers sitting for long periods of time while eating hoping that isn't to harsh of a small request..
Also I have ordered from Curry in a Hurry and I ordered the Butter Chicken with Rice it did lack some salt in it, but good thing is that can depend on the person eating it if they would prefer little amount of salt, but if they would of added a little bit of more salt to my butter chicken it would of made the biggest difference to me but as I said that was just my bowl no idea how everyone else would prefer it.
After eating it it gives you a taste of pumpkin for all you pumpkin spice lovers it's definitely a meal you'll love! But!!! before I can even take a bite of my Butter chicken I found a brownish Blond hair in my food which took me by surprised because everything else I have ate from North State Food ( For the first time today ) I didn't experience that with any of the other dishes of food so it did take my appetite away for a while till I took the hair out of my food.
I'm positive something like that happens by mistake but when you are dealing with the customer paying for the service and the food a hair in my food makes me not want to come back to that one food place..
But mistakes do happen it was just something I would like to include please be careful when dealing with customers food.
Other then that I did love this place the atmosphere was amazing and I will definitely be coming back again to try out everything else they have to offer THANK YOU!! to all the hard workers and Employyes!! And thank you FOR BRINGING CULTURE TO...
Read moreHave you ever hesitated to leave a 5-star review only because you wanted to keep a good thing a secret? That's my dilemma here, but I have to value the developers and restaurateurs for taking the post-pandemic risk of bringing ONSFH to the community. So, here's my 5-star review. In short, I enthusiastically recommend ONSFH for a visit if you're seeking something different from the normal fare offered in the Smithfield/Selma/I-95 area. My family has so far visited twice, and sampled meals from Barley & Burger (wife had Rocky Balboa and fries), Curry in a Hurry (I had Green Curry Chicken and Garlic Naan - spicy and delicious), Aroma De Cuba (A Lo Cubano sandwich - hot off the sandwich press and one of the best sandwiches I have ever had), Luna Pizza (tiramisu - delicious), and Bean and Bubble (Hidden Dragon bubble tea - flavorful and sweet). Everything was fresh and delicious and everyone working there was very friendly to my family. Regrettably, this has not been the norm in other nearby restaurants since the pandemic. What we now have at ONSFH is food prepared by owner-families that have a passion for great culinary experiences - not food kept warm under a heat lamp or mass produced using an committee-approved food preparation manual of a national restaurant chain. If you visit ONSFH (and you should!) I would expect for a normal adult the average price would be around $15-$20 per person with a drink (the all you can drink soda (Pepsi products) option is great but some other drinks are offered at each kitchen). Some of the other Google reviews say the food is expensive, but a 10-piece McNugget meal at McDonald's is now over $9 nearby with a drink, and the food is not freshly prepared or remotely as tasty. And frankly, everything is more expensive now because of nation-wide inflation, so I would say the prices are very reasonable.
All said, ONSFH is worth the visit!
Fun note to management: One recommendation - a ONSFH frequent visitor card ("Round the Hall") to encourage locals to return to try all of the different food offerings - after so many eligible visits to the various kitchens, a cool branded product (t-shirt or similar) to expand...
Read moreSo there are 2 places of note at the food hall. There's an ice cream stand that has an associated hot dog and wing stand. Their food is excellent. The pizza joint used to make an amazing chicken leg appetizer that I cannot wait for them to bring back. The ice cream spot has the best brownies and blondies. They are addictive. When we can afford the calories, we usually buy enough to stock the freezer for a bit. The wings are amazing. Excellent flavors and worth every dollar. Their attention to detail is evident in the staff they hire and every interaction. Now there is a Thursday night thing for prime rib. This is put on by the pub and catering from the catering side of 'white swan'. The prime rib is NOT worth the money. As friendly and accommodating as the staff were, the hard product is just not up to par. Denny's has a superior steak and I would NEVER eat a Denny's steak again. The only good thing when we tried their prime rib night was that we only wasted money on one entree. The steak was stringy and as un premium as could be. Texas Roadhouse in Goldsboro does a great prime rib. Firebird's in Raleigh or Southpoint mall are excellent. The prime rib offered through the North State pub is over priced for what it is. Starting with a better product would be a beginning; preparing it better would be the next step. Old Town Steakhouse in Micro cooks Ribeye's and is a better bet on a Thursday night. Steaks are consistently excellent flavor, price and always leave us ready to come back. The why we go back to North State Food hall is the cleanliness of the facility and restrooms, friendliness of the support staff and the vendors and the variety of food in a family friendly atmosphere. The Prime Rib night debacle notwithstanding, it is a great place to take your family and feel safe, welcome and be able to sit and enjoy your meal. Go for the ice cream or wings. I will have to try the Cuban spot and the burger joint. The ox tail burger is intriguing. It's a tough market, but hopefully with the shopping venues opening across the road, they're able to anchor the food hall and expand with some...
