I didn’t know this place existed. I saw the food hall while I was out Christmas shopping. My daughter & grandson said they found something that I was going to LOVE!!! With excitement, they led me to the ice cream & pointed to the cones. Ice cream flavors seem okay but the waffle cones caught my attention. The flavors were Sea Salt Caramel, Red Velvet, Strawberry, midnight vanilla, cinnamon brown sugar, etc. I looked at the menu while an attendant called for someone to assistant us. I just wanted the cone. The young girl proceeds to say it would be around $6 or $8. I told her I didn’t want ice cream, just the cone. (I was going to buy 2 of each flavor.). She said the waffle cones are an extra $1 or $2. I told her I just wanted to buy the cone. She said she didn’t think they sale just the cone but if I wanted one, it would be the price of the ice cream, which comes with a regular sugar/cake cone plus the upgrade of the waffle cone. All 3 of us just looked at her. I have purchased empty waffle cones at every ice cream place for $1-2 each and NEVER had to buy the ice cream SO I sure wasn’t going to pay $6 or $8 just for a cone. I was out shopping & was going to eat then do dessert later, not ice cream then eat. Plus, I love a plain cone. I live in Raleigh, about 40 minutes away and wasn’t going to be in the area after I finished shopping. Oh well, I just told her no thank you and left. Cute food hall & it was clean. A lot of southern foods. With the businesses opening across the highway, this area should grow & generate business/revenue.

I stopped here on my way home. I had heard good things. I ordered a sugar cone , I got a sugar cone with half a scoop of ice cream and I paid almost 5$ for it. When the girl handed it to me I said that’s a joke right???? What size is a child cone?? she said the same size, again is that a joke? She said “No, I got in trouble for making them bigger” I don’t think I will go there again. 3 bites and gone, dry cone I pitched…. Mc Donald’s gives you a bigger cone or DQ for 3$. Just crazy. Buyer beware. ** Update 8/4/23- they did refund the cost of the ice cream; I was not looking for a refund. The ice cream was good. Just wanted people to know what to expect. To clarify, the purchase I made was for a regular cone, not a child cone as they stated. I was served what appeared to be a baby cone not even a child cone. I certainly do hope staff receive the training they need. I felt by what she said she was passing blame to management for getting upset with her as a new staff person.

Creamy and delicious! Went here with a colleague and it was just perfect. It’s rare to run into a nostalgic authentic ice cream shop, but that’s what you get at the Ice Storm. Customer care was divine and an enjoyable experience. Thank you for this sweet moment!
