Well I needed to bring my New guitar to a professional to have it looked at an adjusted I guess the right word is Setup. I called around to several Big box stores but although they said they were trained I didn’t get that warm secure feeling of trust with my ne baby a 2019 Gibson Les Paul Standard High Preformance with a Bluebury burst finish to die for ... Well I was just about to run down to one of the big box stores but then while using Google came up with a little Guitar shop called Guitar Fixer Bob in Seymour ,CT. I read his credentials and who and how many years he had under his belt along with some well know Rock and Roll guitar hero’s he had for customers and I was sold I need to talk to this man. I called him up and even though he had a back logg (that’s always a good sign of great work) I got him to see me. Let me tell you the man is a perfectionist! What a subperb setup... I thought he was just going to throw on a new set of strings, tune it and be done after all this was brand new guitar from Gibson right....way wrong ! He spent two hours going over every little detail. Even found a missing screw in the nut mounting I had the Dealer on the phone but we found it in the case in a crevasse wow thank God! Take your guitars to Bob don’t be penny wise and pound foolish going to the big box stores who would of just played it and sent me on my way. Bob when through everything, tweaked the neck adjusted the bridge and stopbar tailpiece oiled the neck adjusted the Nut and place back in the missing screw (it was very small the size of a pin head I never would have seen it missing) what a professional luthier. Lessons learned you get what you paid for at Guitar Fixer Bob LLC YOU...
Read moreI recently visited Bob so I could get help restoring my '89 Applause AR19T to peak playing condition. It had been used infrequently since the late 90s, so I knew at minimum it needed a setup. After closely inspecting the guitar, Bob showed me how the frets were damaged (I worked them hard in the early '90s!), and recommended they be ground and polished. He gave me a date the work would be completed, I agreed, and then I waited to hear back.
Right on time, Bob called me to report the work was done. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. The frets are sparkling and smooth, the bridge is now at its proper angle, and strings are no longer a mile off the fretboard (the variance of New England humidity across the seasons murders guitars). Intonation is perfect. Additionally, he checked the status of my aftermarket EMG pickups, did some repair work on the bridge and the socket where the vibrato arm sits, and fixed the main input jack (it had a small issue where an instrument cable, when inserted, wouldn't seat quite right).
Finding a business owner who is a true expert in their field, plus knows how to treat a customer, is becoming a very difficult task. Bob is one of these proprietors. Do not hesitate to consult him on anything related to guitars and similar musical...
Read moreGreat shop and great luthier. Brought a newly purchased guitar to Bob for a set up, got it home and played for a few days. Decided some things were not exactly how I wanted them. He said to come back in and he would tweak it to my requirements. Bob took the time to explain how certain aspects of a set up effect tone and play-ability. Did the tweaks at no extra charge, I couldn't be happier with the service provided.
Bob knows his stuff and the shop is pretty cool for vintage gear. I will be recommending him to all of my...
