I was just at Michaels in Shakopee. It was Empty. No one ever offers to help. Three employeeās standing around. I have shopped this store since it opened and prior to that the old location. Religiously. I buy all my decorative wreath material, flowers, Have bought over a 100 baskets, candles, all my frames, art supplies, I manage a store and buy all the supplies for the office that I can there as well
Until today. I am done. I went and grabbed my $8.99 a piece floralās, no problem, 10 of them, I knew Iād get to use my 20% off on. I had two large $29.99 pillows, four $39.99 lanternās, I had 4 frame holders for $14.99, and there was a great deal on single strand Eucalyptus that were a little paperboy and thin, listed on clearance for a dollar. Whenever there is something on sale, I photo the bin or shelf so If there needs to be a price check. I have it. So I have what, over $500 in my basket. They ring the eucalyptus that was ringing up regular price(I believe $3) is what the cashier saidā¦. I said no, they are in a sale bin. She said show me. I brought her all the way back- she took the bin. She said, oh, your right. Iāll have to see what my manager will do.
The pink haired manager came up, never looked at me, addressed me, never said hi, good morning, thanks for coming in, or Iām so sorry, these were marked incorrectly. Nothing. Nothing. She just said, Iām not over riding the price to the cashier. Nothing to me. I walked out. I will never be back. Ever. I am so tired of the coupon not working, prices not being honored. There are 50 stores around that carry similar product. You lost a really good customer today Michaels in Shakopee!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A little customer service...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI expected a better version of Michaelās up in this region, but I was gravely mistaken. I needed some emergency supplies for a floral project, but they didnāt have any of the basic supplies. I found two floral cages that had old foam. I inquired about ones that hadnāt sat on a shelf for 6 or more months, but no one was available. There was only one single lady in the entire store, and she was stuck at the register. I went and hunted for an employee, but apparently they were all in the back. I finally went to check out and make some inquiries. This is when a second associate finally came out to help with customers checking out. The poor girl who was obviously overwhelmed, tried to get some answers for me in the back, but no one even responded for a hot minute. Eventually when she did get a response, the knowledge base of products was so lacking there was a huge disconnect. Staffing levels were unacceptable, employee knowledge/ training was severely lacking, and product quality was poor. To make matters worse, I was working on wedding flowers and time was of the essence. The groom and I didnāt have the time to waste on pandering to Michaels lack of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI hate to say it, but Michael's has gone downhill, while prices (not value) have increased exponentially. Value pack paper for $5-$7? That's a distant memory. They are all now $20. ā¹ Only 4x6 or 4x5 cardstock paper packs are $5-$7. Regular cardstock rarely goes on sale and when it does drop a little, they rarely have enough of a supply for the demand. Their isles are full of the SAME PRODUCTS month after month. No variety. Clearance prices are a joke. And those products sit there-prices not going lower- for what seems like forever because noone else wants them either. COUPONS? Haven't seen a 50% off in MONTHS. But still the same 70% off custom framing. š You're lucky if you get a 25% off coupon. 20% seems to be standard now. My advice, while Michael's is still WAY better than Joanne's for crafting supplies, shop elsewhere....Amazon, ebay, Etsy...that's where the best variety and price deals are. On a "positive" note...they do offer seniors their 10% discount everyday, (unlike Joanne's only 1 day a week Sr. discount day) and it can be stacked on other sales...
