I had a gold ring with a divot pattern on the metal and a unique moonstone that needed to be resized. I initially tried taking it to a Jared's but (not trying to throw shade at Jared's, btw they were kind and helpful) the craftsman said she wasn't comfortable working on my ring; she feared she would damage the stone and ruin the color. I figured I would have more luck with a more experienced artisan.
Found this shop with glowing reviews and figured I'd try here. The craftsman here warned me it could be a tricky resize with this moonstone but he looked confident and capable so I handed over the ring. So now here I am to toss my own glowing review into the mix!
From the get-go this shop has such a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The craftsman I spoke with was remarkably helpful and generously informative. I felt like I had become a part of the resizing process myself. After a two week period (guess I'm not the first to find this gem of a shop) I went to collect the ring and it turned out flawlessly. Not only did the gem come out totally unscathed, but the divot pattern on the ring itself was replicated so naturally that you'd never guess it wasn't the original work. I'm very glad I came here and I encourage anybody in need of a highly skilled jeweler to try Thompson's Custom Jewelry and Repair first...
Read moreI just had a pretty sour experience here. I got my fiancé a diamond ring that needs to be sized down. I called in and they said they could do it in a few days, which was fine. But I said that I’d like to have a confirmation of the diamond GIA number before we leave it with them. No offense to them or their reputation but it’s a quality diamond and a jeweler once switched out my mother’s diamond and gaslit her saying it was the same one. It was a simple request, I just wanted to see the engraving. He said we could leave it with him and he’d write it down for us. When I gently pressed saying I meant no offense but it’s my first time getting a diamond and I just wanted to verify it, he told me that he didn’t want that vibe in the air and to go find another jeweler. I was not rude. I just wanted to see the laser engraving on the diamond with him before leaving it with them on good faith. Pretty sketch to me that he got so defensive and turned me away just for asking something so basic and honestly it was kind of bizarre. Apparently if you don’t agree to blindly trust them on your first interaction, they don’t want the business. Make that one make sense to me! We called another place and they were super understanding and reasonable. Would not recommend this jeweler unless you’re willing to...
Read moreThis is the only place I trust with my jewelry! I’ve had several rings worked on here, most recently, I needed a middle bar attached in my ring to prevent shifting. I also had a stone replaced in a ring that was damaged, the replacement stone is STUNNING. They did and excellent job picking a stone that was exactly the same shape and size but even more sparkly than before. My bridged ring also came out perfect and was the cleanest I’d ever seen it. Everything was super Fairly priced and did not take very long. I’m so happy with my jewelry every time I leave their shop. They always greet you with a smile, the whole staff is so kind and friendly. I have a bp and stomach condition that randomly flared up while I was in there and they were so kind and helped me outside for air and to rest in my car. It was so embarrassing but they were super understanding and kind about it. They are great people, if you are going to trust anyone to take care of your special jewelry, go to Thompson’s. I was so nervous to go anywhere with stories about jewelers taking stones to replace them with lower quality versions. You’ll never have that happen here. 100/10 recommend- don’t waste your time anywhere else....
