Update: SO much better the next time I went in (a family member wanted some things and wanted to check if the air was better or if this was a permanent decision), plus, Kohls responded to my review. So I'm updating my review for both of these reasons from one star to good.
Original review: I like this Kohl's and have shopped there for years, but in my last visit (12/7/24) it reeked SO strongly of perfume-y air freshener that I actually had to leave. When we walked in I seriously thought someone must have dropped and broken a bottle of perfume in the doorway. But nope, it smelled like that through the whole store. Maybe they think this is a holiday smell? But it was just an overwhelming smell of perfume (sort of a classic cheap, old-lady scent) that was either sprayed everywhere or was circulating through the heating system or both. Even if it were a holiday type scent, it should never be that strong. I wouldn't even buy anything from the store right now - the smell was seriously so strong it'd def be stuck in fabric, and who knows how many washes it'd need to get it out? Kohl's has always had a perfumed effect on their products that I had to launder out (and didn't like), but at least it wasn't this strong. I hope they fix this. I don't know how anyone can stand working in there without getting a migraine. I might check back after the holiday season to see if they thought this odd overpowering stank was "festive" and later go back to...
Read moreDon't go here anywhere near closing time. Fifteen minutes before closing, I was kicked out of the dressing room and not allowed to try on the things I spent half an hour finding. I realize the minor-aged employee in charge was just doing her job, and it was near closing, but I won't be shopping at that Kohl's store due to such a rigid policy. She went on and on about how she had to get customers out or the management gets mad. I just wanted to try on a few things in five minutes to know which size to buy online, not even checking out. I have Kohl's cash to use by tomorrow. So instead of accommodating me, the girl probably spent the next 20 minutes hanging up the clothes I was going to try on, maybe less because the sizes on the rack were all disorganized. She was also knocking loudly on the door of those who were already in a locked dressing room, telling them to get out. They didn't answer her. If this is how management trains employees to act, both employee and management should be fired.
One star for poor management and mostly ugly styles and colors that are sized wrong and don't sell. And the non-coupons are just as bad. It's a shell game. Kohl's won't last much longer...
Read moreI had to make a return for a mail order and Kohl's is very convenient for me. The process is quick, easy, and painless. The reason for the 3 star rating is due to the fact that while I was walking to the return counter I found a game that I wanted to purchase and picked it up. After making my returns I headed to the checkout area only to find a very long line. Now I wasn't sure that I wanted to stand in line for a long time for a game. I walked a head to the cashier's area to estimate an approximate wait time in the line with at least 12 other people waiting in front of me. I saw 2 cashier's and it looked like one was training and things were going very slowly. I know people have to learn and I accept that. I just put the game back on the shelf and proceeded out the door. Bottom line is they did in fact miss and impulse sale due to that long wait, and it not really being a necessity in life. I hate to see what the lines are like after Christmas for all...
