I started going to the Y after having my second child. I wanted to get my energy back because I was always tired. I knew I wanted to hire a personal trainer, so I talked to someone at the facility about the time of day I had available and what types of workouts I was hoping for. Then they had Personal Trainer, John Wagner, contact me and set up my first session.
John was high energy and fast-paced at first, but I told him that wouldnāt work well for me and that I needed something slower. He automatically adjusted to better fit my needs. He taught me how to both use the machines at the facility and, more specifically, how to workout using only the few pieces of equipment I had available to me at home. He always had a plan for what we would do for each session and always made a point to get in a full-body workout. He even helped me rehabilitate after a knee injury by working in conjunction with my physical therapy exercises. He always seemed to know exactly what the PT was going to introduce in my follow appointment before I even went to my next session. His knowledge of the fundamentals and simple explanations made each workout easy to follow and were targeted to my needs. If at any point I didnāt feel comfortable doing a specific exercise, he would adjust to a different one on the spot and that new exercise would still hit the target muscles. If I ever need personal training or any joint rehab in the future, then I know where to go and who to contact....

Ā Ā Ā Read morePros: Very fine facilities. Well maintained.
Easily the nicest Y that I've ever been in (I've visited 10 or more over my lifetime).
Many activities.
Many programs.
Exercise room is the best!
Weight room is the best (well, not as good as a college football weight room - but CF spends millions!).
Cons: Deb and Jeff are very friendly and upbeat, most of the other staff would rather talk to each other, play on their phones, or just ignore the clientele. (I work in a service business where if any of us do what some of them do, we would be warned once, and then let go). BTW, the front desk is called a 'welcome center' and should be that, IMO.
TV stations are varied, but why 6 Pac-10 channels and 1 Big 10 (18) channel? (I know, it's part of a package deal, but get a different package!)
I'd score it 4.5...
