Transphobic policies at work, underpayed staff forcing them to take lots of hours. For the amount they pay you could get fulltime and after bills you'd have 40 dollars for food with nothing left for anything else. The business forces you to have multiple jobs to survive or rely on government programs. 8 dollars an hour isn't enough to live on, and it's 2 dollars less than every other business near them. Every couple of weeks a new person would quit, this place is only good enough to work at til you find somewhere else. They'll hire anybody because they can't keep anyone.
As a trans woman working there I was told it was ok to use the women's restroom, shortly after a coworker complained for no other reason than they were uncomfy with me using the women's room (but it was ok to force me to use the men's room daily and make me uncomfy) and they told me I have to use the men's restroom. I've been transitioning for almost 3 years and this was a tremendous setback. I was told I could use the men's room, hold for almost 6-8 hours a day, or take longer breaks and go TO A DIFFERENT STORE to use the bathroom. Worst work experience I've had since coming out. Only a handful of fellow staff used would refer to me with female pronouns. There are even a few reviews here of customers complaining that I was in the men's room but the owner didn't seem to know or care. All those things together took an incredible toll on me, I'm glad I lost my home (wasnt getting paid enough to keep it), otherwise I would have kept working here.
Food prices are expensive, they have more variety, but walmart does everything cheaper and with the addition of meijer, just...
Read moreUsually I enjoy shopping here. There's a great variety and the people are usually very nice. The interaction I had today is making me rethink shopping here. I went to the service desk to ask if I could get a roll of quarters. I've done this before on occasion so I was extremely taken aback when the lady at the counter said " We don't do that." I was confused and said they had done this just about a month ago. She spit back with "We don't do that anymore because we were getting taken advantage of and cannot supply money to the entire community." She then reached across the counter to slap the small sign stating this. I was pretty floored at how rude she was. And the way she said they had been getting taken advantage of made me feel like that's what she felt i was trying to do. I have worked customer service and I get that it can be annoying when you get asked the same thing over and over, but that response was uncalled for. Being a change in policy, you will have people asking because they do not know. All on all, after this I'm not going to be heading to this store any...
Read moreSo overall this piggy wiggly is really nice inside, clean plently of space to move around, great selection on just about everything, the staff was super friendly which is not always the case at many stores these days sadly. The bakery made here tastes wonderful, the floral and party section has nice selection of items and is well set-up. They have a liquor store that is very nice as well. The overall location of this piggy wiggly is perfect as it right off one of the main roads on south side of sheboygan in nice area with lots of other stores and food places all around it. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is the prices are just too high for me to shop here regularly these days, I normally come here for the fruit section and for the bakery on Sundays during football season, or to pick up some bird seeds or dog treats as they have a pretty nice pet section here. If prices came down I would shop here way more as everything but the...
