We received our RK sale insert with our local Sunday paper. I found several items of interest and called the Shelbyville Store to confirm they had one item in particular (heavyweight shelving) at the store (which they confirmed), to possibly save a wasted trip from Frankfort, if they didn't. On arrival at the Shelbyville store, I began to look in the usual locations for the units. Unable to find them, I asked the clerk at the service desk to confirm the quantity (computer showed 10 in stock) & location of the particular shelving units and a floor clerk was assigned to assist me. After the floor clerk looked unsuccessfully in the same locations I searched previously, they returned to the service desk clerk to verify the correct item # and quantity as previously requested, but now the service clerk acknowledges they searched the wrong # and the store has none of the shelving units advertised, that I had twice previously received confirmation of the store having in stock. I asked for a rain check for the units desired, from the next shipment (due in on Thursday this week) and was refused, due to rain checks no longer being an option at the Shelbyville store. This clerk confusion continued for three other items advertised in the sales flyer (included in our Sunday paper and this is Monday), so I purchased 4 items ($167) I was able to locate as usual, instead of the 10 items ($580) I intended to purchase. We have a Tractor Supply in Frankfort (within 10 minutes from our house), so I'll give them the opportunity for my business in the future, to avoid this disappointing lack of understanding in the simple delivery of any competent form of customer service. We have patroned this store since it opened years ago, because of its past high levels of customer service, such a sad & disappointing lack of focus on what really keeps the doors open, from floor clerks to...
Read moreWe have been going to this Rural King for years and things have always been subpar. However, over the recent months, quality control and overall cleanliness has gone down hill. Dying or dead rabbits and chickens are found during every visit.. managers and employees are very rude when offered advice. I went to purchase a bale of shavings only to have live, baby mice fall out and an adult scurry off. Cockroaches can often be found crawling around the store, onto traps that are left out for the public to see in addition to a 6ft by 4ft patch of floor that was absolutely covered in mouse feces. Very grimy experience, I wanted to get in and get out asap. During check out, employee was incredibly rude, refused to answer any product related questions and was very rude when asked about the location of a specific feed. Sadly, this is a recurring thing and did not surprise me in the slightest today. I will not be back to this location and will be taking my business elsewhere from this...
Read moreCalled the store and asked to speak to someone in firearms, I was put on hold.
After about 5 minutes, someone picked up and asked what I was on hold for. This occurred a few more times. After 15 minutes someone else picked up, I asked to speak with a manager.
After 20 minutes, I finally spoke to a manager. I asked them what was going on down there and why I was on hold for so long. The manager could BARELY speak English and was not at all receptive to my complaint. Asked me what I wanted, and I responded that I just needed to know if two different hand guns were in house. He told me he would call me back rather than just taking a look real quick. It was the least he could do considering how much of my time they had wasted. Rural King you lost a customer today. Will be unsubscribing from all emails and won't be returning to that store. I also will be telling all my friends and family to avoid Rural King all together.
Would give 0 stars...
