This man is not very kind or friendly i called to sell some extra gold i had for cash no price given over phone ok.I arrived in person to show my pieces i already received a very fair quote online and i know the value of gold very well as i check gold spot prices daily. He would not give me a price even in person.I said its 9.22 grams He said how much was your quote offer? I said how much will you pay me? This was said twice like 2 little kids arguing. Why not just give me your price that your willing to pay me? Thats why i came there in the first place. He replies "its not for me" and smiles and walks away.Afterwards told him i had a price given of $xxx He realized that i knew the value of my gold so he did not bother to even give me his offer.I did not like that very much.He said sell it to them.Ok i will.I knew he couldn't touch the quote i was given online anyway but i wanted to see and give him a chance to compete. Now I did purchase a $200 opal 14k gold stickpin from this cc Conrad business in the past.I do not want to return here now. Sellers go on gold melt calculator to check your gold value beforehand and get several offers before you sell to anyone this includes gold, gems, or diamonds.Long story short I mailed in my gold to a company that will pay me fair 90% of melt value. But at minimum i deserved a quote since i took the time out of my day. Crabby old man.I wanted to hear the lowball offer.Jewelers can be dishonest they will buy for $50 and sell for $500 i understand that they need to make a profit some but not off of my stuff i'm not a sucker. This man is knowledgeable in his field but not too eager to keep customers around.Well maybe the grannies that he can swindle LoL. Bad Business! Other jewelers are better than this place.Treat people right and they will treat you right and...
Read moreI thought I could trust a small business owner being one myself. But not the case here. After being married 25years, my husband wanted to upgrade my wedding set. I bought a ring for $7000 from C.C. Conrad of which Walter gave me an appraisal for of close to $10,000. I know appraisals are always higher than actual value. That being said, I always get independent appraisals on my more expensive pieces. I took my ring to a reputable jeweler and their appraisal was $5500. That means that it’s worth maybe $4000. Feeling like I was overcharged, I went to Walter and asked him to make it right. He just talked down the other jeweler, said the gemologist appraisal was just an opinion. When I said that the other appraiser had the same credentials as he did and said that him and her would be using the same scale to appraise, he replied that it was “bullshit”. The appraisals are 14 days apart from each other. If the other appraisal came back within $2000 of his, I would’ve been ok with it, but a $5000 difference feels unethical and theft. So now, instead of ogling over this gorgeous ring, I will always know he ripped me off. (I also bought a set of earrings a year ago that appraised at less than half of his appraisal—wish I would’ve gotten those appraised before buying the ring.) My next purchase or ANY future purchase will not be at C.C....
