Standard Electric Wholesale — Local services in Show Low

This place is an absolute joke. So I go in 6+ weeks ago and speak to Lloyd about building a power pole for me with ground wire and a service box attached, pretty straightforward job by any standards. Quoted at a few dollars under $2,000 which is ridiculous and double what it would cost in the valley but whatever we’re on the mountain and no one likes to work hard up here so everyone price gouges. Par for the course there. I offered to pay at the time of order and was told “no you can pay at pickup, it’ll take us a week and half maybe two weeks tops”. Well the lie detector test determined that was a lie lol. Never hear back from them at all but I do run into Lloyd at a restaurant in town about 3 weeks later and I ask him what’s up with it? The guy is so clueless he didn’t even know what I was talking about then when I remind him he proceeds to say “oh he workin buildin poles today and t’marra, we gon’ get it done in about 2 weeks”. Mind you this is 3 weeks past when I had ordered the pole that was supposed to be built in 2 weeks max and they hadn’t started it. The kicker to all of this is that my brother, who’s land I was getting the pole for at white mountain lake, was referred to the owner of standard electric through a mutual friend and spoke to him personally right around the time I had my second conversation with Lloyd. Well he was told we could get the pole in less than two weeks and it’d be about $1,500 all built. Hmmmmmm fishy huh? So drastically different quotes given for the same project from Lloyd and the owner. And now I’m six weeks removed from the first time I walked in their shop and ordered the pole through Lloyd and exactly zero progress has been made on said pole and they haven’t even had the decency to call and give an update. So to describe this business; liars, inconsistent and dishonest price gouging, lazy and inconsiderate beyond belief. For your information, if you need a pole and box and want to avoid this BS up here on the mountain there are places in flagstaff and the east valley that will sell you a built pole for 1/3 the price of these guys and they also deliver up here for a charge but in the end still substantially cheaper and more timely than...

If you are looking for electrical components please consider shopping local. I have been pleasantly surprised how well stocked and less expensive most of my electrical needs have been at Standard Electric in Show Low. (They beat out Lowe's pricing on numerous items, including wire pricing). The curious staff takes their time helping you find what you need for every job, big or small. I'm so thankful for all the help and advice they have given me while setting up my solar project. They even recommended another local business when they knew the wires they sold would be better for my project overall. What an amazing business, so glad to...

I went looking for a replacement CFL that had burned out. Ace hardware-no luck, Lowes-no luck, home desperate-no luck(not surprised). Went to Standard Electric-WOW!! GREATEST service i've seen in a long time. The staff(i failed to get their names) was so helpful! Not only did they find the replacement, they provided me an upgrade(LED). Definitely will be my FIRST stop for ANYTHING electrical in the future!
