The manager at this store saw me heading to the registers with my items in my shopping bag and gruffly demanded, "How about you give me my merchandise back?"
He also put his hand on my bag. Both of these approaches violate Hobby Lobby's policies, as I understand it. It also goes against a core precept of retail loss prevention, namely that the best way to prevent shrink is to practice excellent customer service.
When he did this, I was tempted to say, "How about you just keep it all if you're going to throw shade?"
But my diplomacy got the best of me and I said, "Hi. I think we got off on the wrong foot. My name is Micha. I shop Hobbly Lobby several times a week, always with my own bag. We haven't met because I live closer to the Bossier location. If you'd like to check with the manager there, I know she'd be happy to confirm that."
To his credit, he said that would not be necessary and explained that corporate moved him there because it was a high-theft location (not surprising, considering it's in Shreveport).
I stay paranoid about using my own shopping bag, but I won't use plastic bags, I hate dragging around baskets and buggies, and it was damn well normal for most of the history of civilization for people to use their own bags in a marketplace. But still, I get it. Which is why I responded the way I did.
I did use the opportunity to explain about 16 other reasons besides proximity that I usually shop at the other location, though. All to be constructive, of course. đ
At any rate, the only way I will shop at this store in the future is if Bossier (which actually DOES display EXCELLENT customer service) is out of something that I really need right away. This interaction was not my first (or tenth) time experiencing abysmal...

Read moreToday, I received the WORST customer service EVER! Came to Shreveport to visit my sister and Newborn nephew, and went to Shreveport Hobby Lobby to get some things for his room. While checking out, the cashier T.Scott was extremely rude! I asked if she was okay, and she replied Yeah. When I asked her if she rang up my coupon, she replied, Yeah. I asked her if she meant Yes Ma'am....she looked me up and down and laughingly said "Yeah, I got it". When I asked her if she had an attitude, her reply was "I can get one". Needless to say, I guess that's how people from Louisiana are....When I asked her for her name, she wouldn't tell us, so I told her that I was going to take a pic to show the manager who I was referring to. After I took the 1st pic, she smiled and posed for a 2nd pic....
