I had a lovely experience at Gibbons! This restaurant is frequently filled with customers so there will most likely be a wait time when you go. I ate by myself this night so the wait time was only 30 minutes. I sat in the area towards the front of the restaurant that was off to the side and a bit reserved from the larger tables and bar area. It had other seating for 1-2 people and you can tell that it is intentionally set up for singles and couples. There’s a bit of a short wall that sort of blocks this area from the rest of the restaurant. This was great for me because I wanted to eat “privately” this night. I do not remember my server’s name but she was polite. Although, I do wish that she would have come back to check on me at least once more. Nevertheless, I understand considering that they were extremely busy. For my appetizer, I ordered the spinach dip and it was great. It was even better when I warmed my leftovers at home. Made me do the happy dance. The dip comes with both corn and flour tortilla chips. The flour tortilla chips with it is AMAZING. The corn tortilla chips were fresh and provided a nice crunch. Some sort of salsa was also provided, I am not sure of the name but I wasn’t a fan of it. It had a sort of musty taste/smell to it. For my entree, I ordered the ribs and mashed potatoes. The ribs were fall off the bone and had a decent amount of barbecue sauce. The mashed potatoes were nice and creamy with chunks of potato (?) in them. I’m not sure if they intentionally cook them this way or not but they were good. I ordered sweet potato fries on the side simply because I love their sweet potato fries. I didn’t see them on the menu but I knew they had them from a previous visit of mine. Regardless of what you decide to order, I suggest that you try the sweet potato fries! It comes with both ketchup and what looks like honey mustard. I didn’t not try the other sauce, only the ketchup. For my drink I had sweet tea. It was lightly sweetened. Next time I would probably say no/light ice as mine quickly became watered down. Overall, my meal was great and I will definitely...
Read moreSubject: Extremely Disappointing Birthday Celebration - Reservation and Cake Issues Ruined Special Day for an 8-year-old old little girl.
This review describes an incredibly disappointing experience at the restaurant. It was planned as a special 8th birthday celebration, and a reservation had been made a week in advance to ensure everything was perfect. Extensive efforts were made to create a memorable "fancy restaurant" experience, including buying a new dress and shoes, getting her hair done, and inviting guests. Upon arrival, despite the reservation, there was significant confusion and delay with seating. The most upsetting part of the evening involved the cake. The reviewer was not informed beforehand that bringing a birthday cake was not permitted. A cake was brought, expecting a typical birthday celebration, but it was taken away and not allowed to be served. This was deeply disappointing and embarrassing. Adding to the distress, the reviewer was not told there was an option to purchase a cake from the restaurant instead. The lack of acknowledgment of the birthday, combined with the mishandling of the cake situation, made the experience feel even worse. The daughter was visibly upset and stated that it was the "worst birthday ever," which is heartbreaking. The reservation issue and the surprise cake policy, without proper communication or an attempt to offer alternatives, significantly impacted the enjoyment of the evening and ultimately ruined what was meant to be a special occasion. This is a critical oversight for a restaurant, especially when reservations are clearly made for celebrations. The reviewer hopes this feedback helps the restaurant improve, and it's important to be transparent about the impact this experience had on the daughter's birthday. It's hoped that future guests celebrating special occasions will be treated with more care and better communication regarding their policies.
PS: not one person, not a server, not a greeter not even the manager looked at the child And said happy birthday or even...
Read moreAfter a few visits the one thing I can say for this place is it’s a great bang for your buck. The atmosphere is very upscale in a date night type of way. All of the staff is dressed to impress, black table cloth, soft lighting, wrap around bar in the middle of the dining room, wine display as you walk in, the whole shebang. The service is hit or miss. I’ve had a couple very attentive servers, and a couple that seemed to never check on us. The food is mid-tier. Some dishes are delicious some need to be re-imagined or just maybe re-trained with the cooks. I love getting the deviled eggs for an appetizer and the little strip of bacon on top is a nice touch. The Hawaiian Chicken was delicious and a great deal at $9.95. My wife loves the Spinach Dip Chicken Pasta also a great deal at $11.95, but it’s a little inconsistent from visit to visit. The Alaskan fish and chips was not my favorite. Their beer batter was nothing like any beer batter I’ve ever had almost like they used too much flour, and the tartar sauce was a little off tasting. The fried shrimp is good. I’d say it’s hard to mess up fried shrimp, but that would be a lie as it’s pretty easy to ruin an experience by serving old rotten shrimp and I can assure you the shrimp at gibbons tasted fresh. The lemon herb chicken I had one visit was too dry for my taste, but I realize that’s common considering people aren’t usually aware of rest times and the fact that you don’t have to cook chicken all the way to 165 in order for it to reach 165 for 30 Seconds. Tiny’s mac and cheese is where my one big critique is. It was like the cook spilled half a jar of oregano in it. Why oregano is in mac and cheese at all is beyond me, but a little would go a long way if you insist on it being there. Needless to say I will not be ordering the mac and cheese again. Overall it’s a regular place for us and we love MOST of the dishes, the service is average and the atmosphere is top notch. The value for your money? Unbeatable in this economy. I highly suggest giving them a try when you’re...
