At first glance, the Rinrose looks like a nice place to live. The lobby is super nice and the roof deck is a great place to grill during the summer. However, this is the loudest, dirtiest and least helpful apartment building I've ever lived in. Multiple people have broken their leases and paid thousands of dollars to get out. I would leave immediately if my lease didn't have months left on it. Also, they lock you into 18 month leases and it makes sense why.
Noise:
They have been doing construction for weeks with constant drilling Mon-Fri 9am-3pm (they definitely work outside these hours). The noise is incredibly loud and the building shakes like mini earthquakes (listen to the noise in the video attached). They sent out a memo that they'll be doing construction for 30-60 days. It has already been a few weeks so that'll be 2 whole months of loud drilling. The worst part is, this is for one part of the apartment and it looks like they marked up another part with tape and I'm afraid to ask if they will be doing more construction on the other part when they are done with the first part. Imagine moving into a complex that was newly built and they drill for months after. If you work from home or you sleep in past 8am this place is not for you.
The walls at the Rinrose are very thin. You can hear your neighbors talk and walk around. Everyone hears everyone.
The fan in the bathroom is on 24/7 and you cannot stop it. When we toured the place, they had the fan off and once we moved in, they turned it on. If sound bothers you, this fan is quite loud.
There are peakcocks in the neighborhood that make loud noises at random times in the night, especially during mating season.
Dogs in the neighborhood bark at random times in the night. Try peackcocks + dogs being loud.
Cleanliness:
Dogs pee in the elevator all the time and the elevators smell awful sometimes. Sometimes I feel like I'm in skid row DTLA instead of a "luxury" complex in Pasadena.
The trash room is gross. Many people on the floor leave their garbage in the trash room instead of throwing it down the chute. The worst was when someone left their 5 foot tall pet litter box in the trash room. It smelled like feces had been rotting for a month in the room. I almost threw up, it was disgusting.
Building quality:
The building was built last year but it was made of cheap materials so many things break.
The countertops scratch easily because they used cheap ones. Half our electrical outlets in our bedroom don't work. All the elevators were down a couple days ago for a period of time. They even replaced all the parking garage gates. They said it would take them two days but it took an estimated 5-7 days where our cars were blocked in multiple hours a day.
Parking:
People steal your parking spots. This happened to me multiple times already but all management had to say was tough luck, they have to put a notice on the car for 24 hours. Basically, you can take someone's parking spot and move your car within 24 hours and nothing happens. They can't tow you without 24 hour notice.
Guest parking is almost always full because some units definitely have many additional people living in them. These parking spots are supposed to be for visiting guests but they are all filled up from extra tenants illegally living here and it is a pain.
Safety:
A homeless person wandered in the other day and used the kitchen on the first floor. I have the video.
There was an attempted break in on another resident's car. (see other Google review).
Requests for management help:
If you request the help of management, they look you in the face and tell you they'll do it and then they don't do it. If anyone has lived in a Greystar managed building, they know exactly how bad it is. Do not expect help.
This place on the surface looks like a nice building but is in fact a nightmare. The construction they are doing Mon-Fri 9am-3pm is out of control. We literally fear they will do more after. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the pain. Stay away...
Read moreMy husband and I moved to the Rinrose summer 2023. We were sold on living here because it had a secure garage, new amenities, brand new apartment units, a gym, and personal EV charging spots. Since moving here, we have felt quite underwhelmed. For the price, I currently feel that one could find better places to live in Pasadena.
Although this may not be the case for others, I hope future tenants are aware of additional costs than what may be present in the initial rent obligations. Thus far, these fees are specifically: convergent (not sure what this is), service (the website processing fee), trash (there’s a “trash” fee on top of another “trash admin” fee), and sewer. They are small fees but sometimes the “trash” and sewer fee can add up to $20-25 each month.
I wanted to emphasize the security concerns with living here. Since the garage no longer works, non-tenants have wandered in. Because I have cameras installed into my vehicle, I was able to see that someone had tried to access my car. They have a security guard parked out front in our parking structure during the evenings, but I saw a security guard asleep in his car the other night.
Concerning the cleanliness and ambiance of this complex- it is not what it was when we first came. The common areas (except the lobby) are not well-maintained. There is trash overflowing on the parking floors, the trash chutes are so narrow that it’s constantly backed up, and the elevator now consistently reeks of pet urine. I see animal excretions in our elevators at least biweekly if not monthly. I have put in maintenance requests for various issues (structural ones due to “the building settling in” per management) but it takes weeks for them to be done if I want to be present in the unit. I noticed a crack in my wall, I had to follow up multiple times for it to be fixed, but it still is present despite someone coming to repair it.
However, there are many positives with living here. There are washing machines in unit and the internet is fast. The EV parking spot is great. The utilities here are functional, aside from one of the workout machines being broken for months. There are great common areas for hosting, and we have created many fond memories with our friends/family here. The units still feel secluded, despite the large increase in tenants. I have, for the most part, enjoyed my interactions with the staff and tenants here.
I am writing this review in the hopes of giving future tenants a glimpse into what it is like living here. I hope that this review doesn’t altogether affect my move-out process negatively as I will not be renewing my contract. I will provide an updated final review with further insight on the move-out process as I know this is something I looked for when apartment shopping previously.
Update: Rinrose management called to personally discuss my concerns with the security, cleanliness, and maintenance. They outlined action items & updates on repairs & custodial staff. I am grateful for their updates and openness to feedback. I hope that these measures will improve my resident...
Read moreI’ve been living here for less than a month, and in just this short time, this apartment has caused me countless inconveniences. First, during my very first food delivery after moving in, my order disappeared from right outside my unit. This means that someone was able to come up to my floor and take it directly from my door, which is extremely unsafe. I reported this issue to the apartment management, but I have yet to receive any response.
In addition to that, the apartment didn’t ensure that the Wi-Fi was set up before I moved in. On the second day, when I contacted the internet provider, they informed me that the previous tenant had not canceled their plan, and the apartment management said they could only reach out to the provider but could not take any action themselves. This left me without internet for three days, which was a major inconvenience.
Moreover, the parking situation here is extremely frustrating. The parking gate is slow to respond, and I have to get very close to it for the sensor to recognize my car. To make matters worse, they assigned me a spot right next to the gate, meaning it takes me at least five minutes every day to straighten my car perfectly just to trigger the sensor and exit. Despite my request to change spots, the apartment insists there are no available spaces, even though there are plenty of vacant units still awaiting renters, so there should be empty parking spots.
On top of that, the apartment originally claimed that the guest parking spaces on the first floor would be convenient for residents’ visitors. However, all those spaces have now been converted into private retail parking, which mostly remain empty, while our guests are forced to park on the street.
To make things worse, I recently had a package stolen. It was opened, and half of the contents were missing. I don’t know who is responsible for this. Overall, the management here is extremely inefficient, and the entire experience has been...
