okay so this was a year ago but i was thinking about it today. i had to get this really specific book for a class. i checked the sv library and the school library. nope. i didn’t really have money and i really didn’t want to buy the book, but i really needed it. so as a last resort i went here. i looked around the store for a while but didn’t find it, one of the women up front asked me what i was looking for. i told her, not expecting her to find it, but she was like “oh yeah i’ll be right back!” she walked out literally 3 seconds later with the book. then when i was paying she said it was going to be one dollar. i was surprised and thought i just misheard so i asked again. it was, in fact, one (1) single dollar. not even gonna lie i almost cried. y’all don’t understand how badly i wanted to find this book immediately - the hw was due that night and my instructor’s class policy to keep from getting dropped was really really strict. the fact that it was only one dollar did not feel real to me. i probably sound really dramatic but i was having a hard time working through some things at this time last year and the fact that just this one person was helpful and kind to me helped me get through it a little more. i really wish i remembered her name, i wish nothing but the best for her and for this business. i never review things ever but this...
Read moreI used to shop here all the time. But the prices are becoming ridiculous for a used, volunteer book store. This isn't Phoenix, this is a small retiree town. They don't compare. This shop is loosing regulars, like myself because they're trying to compete with city pricing. Not to mention, one woman who works there is rude to literally everyone. And she has to make it known to every customer that she used to be a teacher, and she is far superior to everyone. She treats people horribly. So unfortunately, this store has lost my business.
Update: Since the "owner" has responded, I'd like to add that; I have been back twice, since posting my first one star review. And both times Carol was there. And she was still as rude as before, which is unfortunate. I have also since learned that your sister store "Last Chance" is permanently shutting their doors by March. And you've fired over 9 volunteers, which were great people in what, less than a week? I suppose I was right in stepping back away from this bookstore. Won't be back. No one enjoys being treated...
Read moreDon't go here if you want a homeschooling discount because you'll never get it. First, it was you get half off everything because you homeschool. Then it was okay you get half off the children's books since you homeschool. Later it became you get half off the children's books, if it's for school. If it's going in your child's own private book collection then you can't get a discount on it. First of all, the children are homeschooled, so I think all reading done at home is educational because that's where their education takes place. Finally, it became we only give half off to homeschoolers if it's educational material. If you want a discount because you homeschool go to the little library bookstore because they will give you half off everything because you homeschool. If I could have given this bookstore zero stars,...
