Hello. I am a recent customer of a local hobby store called “bad fast hobbies”, located in Sioux City, IA. On 8/17/20 i purchased a trx4 model: 82034-4, equipped with traxx. In speaking with the owner of the store i explained openly that i knew ZERO about RC industry other than my research using YouTube suggested the truck i pointed at on the shelf, the display model, should have the two speed transmission as well as a 2/4 wheel shiftable. The gentleman said yes that model should have that. He then went to his computer and confirmed. So i asked for a box which he had to search for but found. Then i bought a battery and charger. Total was over $800. I took it home and slowly removed the traxx wheels and installed the normal wheels so i could test it out in my yard. I drove the truck around in my yard and in the street. I did go up and down the curb just to see the capabilities of the truck. Honestly i was impressed. I played with it for 20-25 minutes. I then got into thinking about how to shift in and out of 4 wheel as well as high/low gears. I read the books, got on youtube, etc. i then realized i was given something other than what i was told. I would have gone back to the store on 8/18/20 however i worked and didnt find time to make it there. Today, 8/19/20, i went to the store once to ask about what could be done, explained the above to the guy and he told me to bring the truck in and he would reach out to his rep to see what could be done. I went back to the store approx 2 hours later and the man said i was a liar and the truck had been used more than i said cause of (superficial) scratches on the bumper, which i did tell him about the usage. He then called me a liar multiple times and on one occasion i told him i was getting upset by the allegations and id be tempted to go to jail if he continued on the path he was on. I then grabbed my truck, tool kit and controller and went to my car. I was sitting there texting my friend about the situation and he still comes out to my car, tells me to go home and calm down and when im ready to admit that im a liar, he will help me by telling me what Traxxas was willing to do to help. From my side, I DO NOT LIE. So i will never admit that i did because i did NOT!! Ask anyone who knows me. I also take care of what i have as i dont have a ton of extra money to throw around. I spent $800 on a product and was in actuality, given a display model that was not what i was told it was. When i went there today, i had hoped i would be greeted with good customer service as well as be able to work it out to get me the product i had wanted when i went in there. Instead i was greeted with downright hostility from a power hungry guy who is forcing me to say something in order to get the problem created by...

However, I am kind of back and forth with how I feel about the pricing. I get it, those parts probably don't have a cheap stock price, but I can't help but point out that it was $8 for a single antenna. Additionally, if you want to bring in your car on the track you have to clean it with an air compressor first, which is time consuming, and you can't have certain modifications, such as a wheelie bar, which is sold in the store. Maybe an indoor carpeted track is not the smartest idea. Everyone who comes in to drive their car is usually respectful except for some younger kids, including one that was helping out. I didn't like how he was telling me stuff as if I don't know what I am doing. Overall though, decent store, and the owner is a nice guy. Happy he was able to move and expand his business outside...
Read moreWASTE OF TIME! Called in about running on the indoor track, he explains it costs $10 but cars need to be cleaned and can't be 4wd or bigger than 1/10, etc... So I spend 2 hours cleaning my cars, with soap, water, compressed air, picks, and brushes. Then drive 2 hours there to the store/track, get there, he takes my car apart, smacks it upside down against the desk, breaks the battery holder, battery falls out dangling by wires, and says "oh see, it is too old and dirty." And won't let me ride on the track. Guy is a total waste of time. Only sells Traxxas since they have the largest dealer markup! Also doesn't know how to fix anything, or have anything...
