I've had several experiences at Gary's and the majority of them are positive. The first time I had gone to several gun stores looking for a serpa holster for my XDs. I had nearly given up when I went to Gary's and asked. They pointed me right to them. The second time I went in was when my 1911 grip screw was messed up. The gun smith fixed it and returned it to me, I expected to pay $20 for his time, but he didn't charge me. I've used their range countless times, it's affordable and fun. Staff has always been patient and friendly. They can usually tell if you're there to buy a gun or just look. The only reason they're not a 5 star is because some of their prices can be a bit high, but they have frequent sales so if you're patient, you can get a good deal. The second reason is some of the advice and some of the guns I've had friends pushed towards. I've witnessed several friends being guided to certain firearms with less than reliable reputations (I assume it's because the profit margins are bigger). They would then be told about the gun in a manner that misrepresents it significantly. I'm not sure if this misrepresentation is from lack of knowledge or just wanting to make a sale, but I'd research every firearm you're considering before buying it. Now as a counterpoint to this, the older staff tend to be a bit more knowledgeable and will warn you about certain firearms. One example is after countless hours of reviews, I found myself wanting a 10mm. I went in and looked at a Glock 29, having never fired a caliber more powerful than 9mm. The saleman informed me that the gun was good, but the recoil would be very powerful, and while 10mm was great, it wouldn't be fun to shoot out of the Glock 29. He allowed me to make my own decision, but offered his experience, which led to me not purchasing the firearm, but with an appreciation for his honesty. That's why I continue to shop there, because at the end of the day we should support our local gun stores that deserve our patronage. If recent events have taught us anything, it's that big outdoors stores can sway in the face of public opinion, and if we don't support our LGS, there won't be any when Cabela's or Scheel's decides they're only selling shotguns and bolt...
Read moreI know, growing up here son of a farmer of a farmer of a farmer, a lot of what I did and learned what kind of the ole "point and spray" so guns weren't knew to me, just the pistol aspect. I purchased two of the Smith and Wesson M&P series hand guns and I got great help. What set this a part even more though, was when I came in to use my free range passes, I've never shot in a range before and was nervous too. Greg who was there, was a TREMENDOUS help, even helped me with my stance and handling as I did a lot of research but there's so much out there. I now go on the weekdays after getting a month membership and he has always been a great help AND when I ask, never has made me feel stupid as I was nervous, just because this portion was new to me but ever since I've seen a great improvement with myself and grouping! Greg and Morgan have been straight with me on any questions, giving me their opinions, and have always made the time for me, which to me working in the customer service aspect for the years I have, is what makes me continue to return and look forward to it as well! Answer my questions and don't try to sell me on other things that just don't fit or need and as I just do my own research, has been spot on.
Again with the improvement I've seen in myself because of their help, has been awesome! I know growing up in this are for 30+ years, the things that get said and opinions, but Steve the new owner was a GREAT guy to talk to as I just wanted to bring to his attention the awesome customer service support I've recieved from Greg and Morgan and he was very nice and easy to talk to as well. I would highly recommend anyone that's looking or has been in, to give them another chance or if new, to stop on by!
Thank you Steve, Greg, and Morgan for the EXCELLENT customer service...
Read moreTodays world forces online purchases. Due to the experiences of some purchasers, it is always un-nerving to make large on-line dollar purchases from an unfamiliar on-line retailer. While looking at Gary's online store, I found a new firearm I was interested in. There were multiple photo's of the actual firearm available rather than the manufacturer's generic picture of the model. This attracted me and the photo's allowed me to see wood stock color and graining in detail. Gary's has been in business for a while and appeared to have good rating, so I placed my order. GARY'S promptly contacted my FFL dealer and shipped the firearm. On the afternoon of the fifth day after placing the order, including a local one day delay by the shipper, I picked the firearm up from my FFL dealer. Preliminary inspection indicated that the firearm was exactly what I expected to receive. As the result of this prompt and smooth transaction, I would not hesitate to place additional online orders with Gary's Gun Shop, and will be contacting them regarding accessories such as mounts, scope and a sling. If there was a negative associated with this transaction, it would be the additional 3% added for a credit card transaction because the sales price was equal to what the retail price would have been if the item would have been available locally. However, understand I was made aware of this fee before goint through with the trancaction. In summary, I will not hesitate to do business with Gary's...
