I brought a laptop in there yesterday, 01/16/2024 to pawn. Upon giving it to an employee, someone who I am assuming is the owner of the store, told the employee they needed to remove the password from my computer. In the process of doing so they locked up my computer to where my old password no longer works. I can’t even start the computer in the bios menu to get around this, so it is now essentially bricked. I just got off the phone with ASUS who said it would have to be shipped to them then an $85 diagnostic fee, then whatever the cost of unbricking it (if they even can), plus the shipping cost there and back. All of which I do not have the money for right now hence why I was trying to pawn the computer. When I asked the employee who was the one messing with the computer while the owner was telling them what to do, “was this computer working when I brought it in here”, they agreed that it was. When I brought this up to the owner and communicated that this damage was caused because of what you told your employee to do, my computer is now bricked, the owner replied, “sue me”.
I think it’s pretty obvious that most people are not pawning items when they are in a good financial place (I find myself in this financially and mentally exhausted state because of having been out of work due to labor union strikes in my industry) and so for someone to behave that way to someone they know is already hurting, is down right disgusting and appalling. I would think that any normal person with a heart or even a drop of empathy would, not only do the right thing, but at least suggest let’s try and figure out how to fix this rather than immediately resorting to, “It’s not my problem. What do you want from me? Sue me!”. This scenario is no different than if I handed them a Ming vase to assess and they drop it. In that case it is clear they should be held accountable and would be responsible for replacing that item. This is no different to me because now the computer is worthless, and they in no way shape or form tried to compensate me or even help find a solution. This is not how you treat people. The owner of the store should be ashamed of themselves. And I will say that the owner or whoever was in charge that day is the only person I am upset with because I could tell the employee who was messing with the computer did not feel good about what was happening but had no choice but to go along with what his supervisor said. I absolutely DO NOT recommend taking any business to someone that would treat someone in their own community that way!!! That is criminal behavior!!!
And yes your employee did in fact end up changing the password and leaving it blank and confirming it. Check the tapes you will see and you will hear your voice telling him to do so. You are unbelievable and outright dishonest. I mean there were three of you there and you all feel comfortable with this blatant lie??? You know the truth, your employees know the truth, and I know it so if you’re fine with being a...
Read moreThis was my first experience dealing with a Pawn shop and Jason, Dustin and Kimyo made the experience overwhelmingly easy and comfortable. It was awesome to speak with Jason who is like a walking history encyclopedia of the Smyrna area, and get some insight into what this area and that business has been like for decades. I've read other reviews on here which is what prompted me to go to Smyrna Pawn and every single one that has given 5 stars rings true. It is like dealing with members of your own family who just have your back in times of need! If I could give 100 stars I would have! Thanks guys!
3/9/17 - Just wanted to update my original post. Can't believe it's been so long since I started visiting Smyrna Pawn and using their service and it's honestly just gotten better the more I've gotten to know them. I travel a lot for work and have to front funds then get reimbursed. Sometimes it's nice just to have a little extra on hand...and sometimes the funds are absolutely needed. These guys come through for me over and over. When they say they are family owned and like to treat their customers the same way, it couldn't be more true. Thanks guys...you've taken the stress out of my life several times and that is something a "star rating" just can't attach a...
Read moreI had an outstanding experience at Smyrna Pawn. From the moment I walked in, the team showed genuine hospitality and created an atmosphere that felt welcoming and professional ( with one gentleman offering a juice box to my daughter during the wait). They are not just friendly but truly gracious in the way they engage with customers, which immediately sets them apart.
What impressed me most was their fairness. Every interaction was transparent, and I felt confident that I was getting honest value whether buying, selling, or discussing options. That level of integrity is rare, and it makes a huge difference.
A special thank you to Jake, whose insight and diligence went above and beyond. He took the time to explain details thoroughly, answered every question with patience, and made sure I felt informed at each step. His professionalism combined with his approachable manner made the entire process smooth and trustworthy.
If you’re looking for a place that combines great customer service, fairness, and real expertise, I highly recommend Smyrna Pawn. They’ve definitely earned my respect and...
