Will not come back. We were very hopeful to see Nigerian food and a place to enjoy, but I’m very put off, moreso my Dad.
No hard feelings toward this restaurant, just constructive criticism. I’m not sure if we just got a bad batch, came on a wrong night or if this is just the norm. Either way, this is unacceptable as someone could get sick and get you in deep trouble.
I’m not promoting anything. Everything else still stands. Beware!!
I’m gonna make this as clear, concise, and to the point as I can. My Dad and I went there on a Saturday night. We talk with what I think is the owner or at least manager. She was very nice as well as one of the waitresses was very nice as well. They were kind and told us more about the menu and lounge aspect- even showed us around. Very hospitable, HOWEVER, when we got home and ate the food, it was terrible.
Ogbono stew was tasteless. Consistency was accurate to what it was supposed to be. The fish was NOT fresh by any means- inedible, hard and not fresh. Salt didn’t help either. The taste was just muted.
Egusi stew did not smell nor taste good at all. I’m not sure how they make their food, but to me this particular dish smelled very off putting. Eat at your own risk. The meat wasn’t even cooked with the egusi. It’s like they took meat they cooked and simmered in another red stew and plopped it onto an unproperly seasoned egusi stew last minute. Just doesn’t make sense to me.
Vegetable stew was the better one of all of them. It was edible and mainly spinach- very flavorful. Same with the egusi, the meat was cooked from another red stew. Meat(beef) was same as the egusi- inedible, hard and not fresh, so I didn’t eat it.
Moi moi was good at the restaurant while we were waiting for our food to be made. So we bought 5 to take home for later in the week. The owner/ or lady we spoke too told us we can freeze them and just warm them up when we want. We get home, refrigerate 2 and freeze 3 immediately. 2days later we cut into them and they were all ROTTEN. Yikes…
Thanks...
Read moreI ordered the egusi soup with fish and cow meat and the odor of the food was rancid! The restaurant had a slight odor of urine when you walk in, but I disregarded that because I saw some good reviews. I ordered two things, egusi soup and the okra soup. I asked for chicken with the okro soup. When I tell you that I am utterly disgusted with the food that I received and the quality of the food I mean, maybe it’s my fault because I ordered the food at 9 PM and picked it up at 9:30 and they were may be ready to close. I’m not sure, but the okro had the toughest chicken I have ever had, like rubber. I paid $40!!!! I will be requesting a refund because I am scared to get a replacement! 😩
UPDATE: You are were closed by the time I made it home so I did not call. Of course I have photos, I could not eat it. Now I am up at 1am with diarrhea from your spoiled food from the few bits I did try. I should have known better than to try it based on the smell alone. Us taking advantage of foreigners? There is no way a dry piece of chicken with okra slime should cost $20. I was the one taken advantage of. I will take this up...
Read moreFantastic food!! I would like to give my sincere compliments to the chef!!
We had asun, snails and whole fried tilapia w/the proper setup(plantain and pepper sauce)...delicious! I should be ashamed of how I did that fish as the carcas was like a cartoon fish, but I am not - hahaha! That's just how good it was;I left no meat, no sauce nor plantains on that plate. #Foodlum (lol)
This was my first time eating snails...they were so good! The pepper sauce...some of the best I've had;my husband had white rice to finish it cos he could not leave any of that sauce on d plate. We took two more servings home with us.
The asun....scrumptious. I like the size of the pieces they serve here. Many places do asun in very small bites, which is quite alright, but this restaurant gives larger pieces of soft goat meat in that same delicious sauce, too sweet!
Next, I plan to try the banga. Oh and more of that palm wine!
They also have table tennis and pool...
